Their lips met, tongues brushing against each other. Their teeth grazed each others lips and their breaths mixed into one long moan.
Kate pulled back. "I didn't expect that."
"Expect what? Us...-" started Josh.
"Kissing? Yeah. I just thought you'd be scared." she cut, returning to the kitchen for food.
"Scared? Of what?" Josh followed.
"Heights. Your wobble with me on your shoulders on our little Mug Mission, for example. You were definitely scared of Sock when you first saw her. What else are you scared of?" Kate leaned forward and eyed Josh's lips.
"Maybe your occupation..." Josh smiled, mischievously. He leaned forward and replaced his lips against Kate's.
Kate's fingers panned across Josh's chest, pulling him closer. Josh's fingers trailed up her arm, then up her spine.
He pulled back, finger on the nape of her neck. "Why don't you have an input?" He asked, confused.
She pushed Josh back. "I'm unregistered. So?"
Josh stiffened. "Shit, I knew something was off. I'm leaving."
"Just like that? You had to have expected this. Tell me you expected this." Kate demanded.
"You don't exist. The contraband freaked me, but now this? I don't get how you can exist." Josh threw up his hands then headed to the door. "I said I'm leaving."
He strode out, shutting the door loudly behind him. Kate leant against the cabinet and wiped her face with her hand.
"Bloody males," she moaned, and slid down to sit on the floor. Sock slithered in and took advantage, licking her face like a dog. "Hey..."
Sock tilted her head and wiggled like she was questioning.
"It's all fine, Sock. Trust me," spoke Kate. She rested her head on the cupboard door behind her and hugged Sock to her chest.
"Trust me," but she regretted ever letting Josh leave.
