victoria sat opposite melissa in a café that was only a few blocks away from her apartment.
it was a quite day; victoria had nothing on and melissa didn't have any work to do or places to be. luke agreed to leave her alone for the day so the two best friends decided to spend some time together, it was becoming a rarity recently.
melissa knew about luke. he was the reason that she was left alone that night when victoria had first met the tall blond.
she just didn't know how often luke and vic actually saw each other these days.
"so. why do you have a bruise on your wrist?" melissa asked sipping on her coffee.
"umm, bashed it on the kitchen cupboard"
"why don't i believe you? tell me how you got it?"
victoria smirked thinking about how luke had slammed her arms against it yesterday, there was no surprise there was a visible mark really.
luke wasn't that rough with her usually. if either of them were uncomfortable or didn't want to do something they wouldn't do it.
although luke tended to joke that victoria always gave into him and he was constantly asking for sex he would never pressure her into anything.
"i don't even know why i'm asking. i think i can figure out how you got that" melissa rolled her eyes.
"whatever. what's going on in your life?"
"well i've been speaking to a guy, got myself a date"
victoria looked at melissa with a raised eyebrow as she picked at the chocolate muffin in front of her.
"go on, do i get a name? description? where you met?"
"his name is daniel, he's hot and we met at the gym"
"oh so he works out?" victoria teased leaning forward on her elbows.
she had missed gossiping with her best friend.
victoria felt bad for neglecting her ever since luke arrived, it always happened. the two would be inseparable for the months he was away but as soon as vic received the text that he was in town she became distant.
most of her time would be spent working in the day and then with luke in the evenings.
"he does work out and it pays off. i bet he has a better body than your boyfriend"
"hey luke's hot leave him alone. he's not my boyfriend either for fucks sake"
"hmmm sure. anyway i'm going out with daniel tonight so you can come shopping and pick me an outfit to wear"
"his name makes him sound a bit stuck up" vic mused licking the brown crumbs off her finger and thumb.
"well he's not, you'd like him"
victoria drank the rest of her milkshake (she wan't that into coffee or any other hot drink) then struggled to put on her denim jacked whilst sat down. melissa laughed at her friends struggle, easily slipping on her jacket and standing up to leave.
they strolled down the street heading towards the mall that was only a ten minute walk away.
victoria listened to mel talking about the new guy, daniel. she was glad that melissa had met someone else after being single for so long. melissa was the kind of girl that was happiest in a stable relationship, she'd never been happier than when she was with her ex.
that was probably the main difference between the two girls.
melissa enjoyed the company and attention that came with a relationship whereas victoria preferred to be alone, she couldn't handle being around the same person for too long.
