victoria sat opposite melissa in a café that was only a few blocks away from her apartment.
it was a quite day and neither of them usually worked on wednesday's. luke agreed to leave her alone for the day so the pair decided to spend some time together.
melissa knew about luke. he was the reason that her and the friendship group were abandoned by victoria the night she first met the singer.
mel just didn't know how often luke and vic actually saw each other these days.
"so. why do you have a bruise on your wrist?" melissa asked sipping on her coffee.
victoria lifted her arm to inspect the dark mark.
"bashed it on the kitchen cupboard" she shrugged with a slight smirk.
"why don't i believe you? tell me how you got it?"
victoria almost blushed thinking about how luke had slammed her arms against the cupboard yesterday. there was no surprise there was a visible mark really.
luke wasn't usually that rough with her. if either of them were uncomfortable or didn't want to do something, they wouldn't do it. although luke often joked that victoria always gave into him, he would never pressure her into anything.
"i don't even know why i'm asking. i think i can figure out how you got that" melissa rolled her eyes.
"whatever. what's going on in your life?"
"well i've been speaking to a guy, got myself a date"
victoria looked at melissa with a raised eyebrow as she picked at the chocolate muffin in front of her.
"go on, do i get a name? description? where you met?"
"his name is daniel, he's hot and we met at the gym"
"oh so he works out?" victoria teased leaning forward on her elbows.
she had missed gossiping with her best friend.
victoria felt bad for neglecting her ever since luke arrived, aware that it always happened. when luke was in town the friends would only end up discussing work. she did feel bad. they would be inseparable for the months he was away but as soon as vic received the first text upon his return she became impossible to make social plans with.
most of her time was spent working in the day and then with luke in the evenings.
"he does work out and it pays off. i bet he has a better body than your boyfriend"
"hey luke's hot leave him alone. he's not my boyfriend either for fucks sake"
"sure" she muttered, "anyway i'm going out with daniel tonight so you can come shopping and help me pick a new outfit to wear"
"his name makes him sound a bit stuck up" vic mused licking the crumbs off her finger and thumb.
"well he's not, you'd like him. maybe we can double date"
victoria ignored the double date comment as she drank the rest of her iced tea, melissa standing up to leave.
they strolled down the street heading towards the mall that was only a ten minute walk away.
victoria listened to mel talking about the new guy, daniel. she was glad that melissa had met someone else after being single for so long. melissa was the kind of girl that was happiest in a stable relationship, she'd never been happier than when she was with her ex.
that was probably the main difference between the two girls.
melissa enjoyed the company and attention that came with a relationship whereas victoria preferred to be alone, she couldn't handle being around the same person for too long.
