"vic if you're working you need to wake up" melissa shoved her best friends side.

the two hadn't moved from their position on the couch which was surprising considering how uncomfortable it looked. mel definitely had a headache but she wouldn't go as far to say she was hungover.

she still went to the kitchen and grabbed a can of coke for both of them as well as putting some bacon under the grill, she had discovered that if she had been drinking alcohol the best recovery method was a sugary drink and some salty food.

victoria rubbed her eyes that were partially stuck shut by the make up she hadn't washed off, the mascara sticking her top and bottom eyelashes together. she considered not showing up but the sensible part of her knew she should make the effort considering mel had done everything this week so far.

"i'm making breakfast, go shower so you look less shit"

victoria glared at melissa who was leaning over the countertop holding out the can of soda. victoria rolled off the couch, taking the drink as she went into her bedroom.

she took her time in the shower, allowing the water to run down her back. the temperature was set lower than usual in an attempt to wake herself up a bit. in a rush, victoria settled on some mascara and lipgloss, fixing her hair as much as possible to make herself look presentable.

melissa knocked on vics bedroom door with breakfast in hand for her best friend. she left a plate on victoria's bedside table.

"are you gonna try to see luke at the weekend before he goes"

victoria shrugged as she began eating, swallowing the food before responding.

"might do tonight but it depends if we both have time"

melissa was secretly worried about how much time her friend was spending with the singer. she knew victoria better than a lot of people and knew that although she acted tough and joked about being cold hearted, vic let people in too easily and it didn't take a lot for her to become attached.

she knew that victoria wasn't looking for a relationship, nor did she have any interest in luke other than the hookups but with the amount of time vic and luke had been spending together in the brief time he was in town concerned her slightly.

"well im gonna get going then and i'll see you soon, yeah?"

victoria blew a kiss in the direction of her friend, waving her fingers as mel backed out of the room.

victoria sipped on her soda as she heard the apartment door shut gently. she had definitely drank a lot more alcohol than her best friend even though there was no occasion. they didn't need a party or event as an excuse to drink and gossip together.

she left early so she could pick up a coffee on route to the first store that was nearly a two hour drive away. it was going to be a long day.

by midday victoria and a colleague at the current boutique she was visiting went to go and grab lunch. they talked business but also found time for a gossip.

vic had hired natalia as a store manager a little over eight months ago and the two had become close within the workplace. they had been on a few nights out together and very often went for brunch when vic was in town.

after lunch, mel called to say victoria didn't need to bother with the remaining store drop ins as she would be doing the rounds next week.

victoria happily rerouted her gps readying herself for the commute back to LA and noticed that by the time she was due home she'd have enough time for it to be worth seeing luke.
