"mel we can go out any day next week but i still have the kids until tomorrow afternoon"

"i haven't properly seen you in almost a month"

"i was away and then i've been busy since" vic sighed grabbing a clean diaper with her cell phone tucked between her shoulder and ear.

"busy fucking luke" melissa muttered.

"don't even start. last time you brought luke into things we didn't talk for a week"

"alright, alright i'm sorry. i just miss my best friend. i feel like he's stolen you from me" mel whined picking at some loose string on her comforter.

ella looked like she was about to have a breakdown any second if her aunt didn't give her some attention. luke had taken seth down to get breakfast, offering to make some for victoria too.

"mel you know that's not true, you have to stop judging my relationship"

ella began to wail flailing her arms in the air and kicking her little legs.

"look, i'll text you later and arrange something for next week. my niece needs changing and feeding"

"alright super nanny. see you soon?"

"yeah we'll speak soon, bye"

melissa hung up and victoria threw her phone onto one of the pillows on the bed. she lifted ella from the crib that was now set up in luke's room after seth decided that his house was way cooler than his aunts.

luke was enjoying the uncle act and when vic attempted to leave, him and seth protested until she gave in. luke offered to pick up all of the kids things and an hour later they had set up camp in his home.

the rest of the week had involved a zoo trip, a beach day and baking as well as other things. victoria had enjoyed the time with her niece and nephew but looking after two young children had been exhausting and she was relieved her brother was home the next day.

"someone's not happy. should we sort you out?" vic cooed.

she was practically a pro at diaper changes now. ella was whiney so victoria continued the baby talk.

when the poppers were successfully fastened on the clean baby grow she turned around to see luke leaning against the doorframe with a full mug of coffee.

"motherhood is starting to suit you" he teased swapping so he held the baby instead whilst vic sipped the steaming drink.

"shut up" she muttered bashfully.

"breakfast is ready, you comin?"

vic nodded and followed him downstairs where seth was sat swinging his legs at the island in the kitchen. she kissed his head and fixed his morning hair making him squirm and giggle.

"y'know i've almost known you for two years now" luke pointed out.

he was feeding ella who was looking right up at him. it melted vics heart seeing them interact.

"two years, huh?"

"and you still choose to hang out with me" he smirked swaying with the baby.

"i do" vic nodded not even bothering to think of a sarcastic come back.

"well i'm glad"

all vic wanted to do was kiss luke and tell him how much he meant to her but she settled with a bashful smile as she hoisted herself up onto the countertop.

it had been almost two years since she met him on a night out. she had once seen him as an asshole - an attractive asshole who was good in bed, but still an asshole. now she saw him for the amazing and talented human he was.
