victoria was tapping her fingers on the steering wheel along to the song that was playing through the speakers. she didn't know what the song was but it had a good beat and put her in a good mood.
she put down her window so the breeze could cool her down instead of the air con. luke put his down as well, resting his elbow on the car door and holding onto the top of the window frame.
there were lots of people out walking and the roads were fairly quiet for once which was unusual for where vic lived.
"do you like this song?" luke asked humming along to the melody.
she nodded her head as he turned it up louder.
luke was smirking as he listened to his bands song, his voice filling the car unbeknown to victoria. he sang some of the lyrics of the chorus mimicking playing the guitar along with the track.
it got to a verse where he was singing lead and he could see victoria frowning at the familiarity of the voice. she glanced over at luke's smug face after a few lines then realised why the singer sounded so familiar.
"is this you?"
"my band" he corrected her with a laugh, "you like it?"
victoria didn't want to fuel luke's ego anymore but she had to admit that it was a good song. luke and his bandmates definitely did have a talent for making music.
"maybe i'll have to come watching one of your concerts some day soon"
"yeah you will. i can get you in whenever you're free and want to come watch us"
"when are you next playing near here?"
"not for a few months. we're doing europe next then north america but we aren't here until near the end"
the song ended and luke lowered the volume back to the level it was before.
"so i can get the keys for my house in five days but i'm not gonna be here so will you be able to get them from the estate agents?" luke asked reading through the paper work he had received after signing the contract for the house.
victoria nodded and asked him to write down the address of the office so she could pick up the sets of keys.
she was surprised with how quick the process had been.
a little under an hour talking to christina and a check for a deposit written out things were practically sorted. victoria had no idea how the property market worked but things were moving quickly and if luke didn't have to go away he would have been able to move in by next week.
"no parties whilst i'm not here" he joked.
"don't worry i won't go there until you're back"
vic pulled up outside her local store; she was running low on both groceries and toiletries.
"you can wait in the car if you want but i might be a while"
"nah i'll come for a walk. i want some things for the flight anyway, might as well get them now"
luke wore a pair of sunglasses as if they would cover his face to avoid any recognition but the store was quiet enough. there were a few elderly ladies shopping and numerous middle aged men and women but nobody that cared about who luke was.
he pushed the shopping cart whilst victoria scanned the shelves, occasionally throwing things into it.
luke managed to add a few things himself, victoria rolled her eyes at him but allowed him to carry on filling her cart.
