victoria had landed and was sat cross legged waiting for her suitcase to arrive so she could leave. luke had informed her that there would be a driver waiting in the arrivals lounge to drop her off at the hotel.
she finished off a half eaten sandwich that she had bought and sipped on some water in an effort to get some energy to stay awake. the journey had been long and it was the middle of the night in california now compared to midday in france.
vic had no idea when the band were playing shows and what countries she would be in for the next week but she did know that luke had made sure they could go out for a day wherever they were playing in italy to her request.
she hadn't worn any makeup for the flight and was wearing a pair of leggings and an oversized t-shirt for comfort. what she hadn't taken note of on the early morning ride to the airport was that she had pulled on luke's hoodie in her semiconscious state.
victoria stood up and put on her backpack when the luggage carousel whirred to life. she saw her nude suitcase move around the corner and pushed past a group of high school kids, obviously on an organised trip, to get to it.
she wheeled her case behind her and made a quick visit to the bathroom before going through to the arrivals hall, scanning the area for someone holding a card with her name.
to her left was a tall man with a grey beard dressed in smart clothing holding up her surname. she dragged her case over and greeted him.
"victoria anderson" she smiled holding out her hand to shake the drivers.
"pleased to meet you miss anderson. i hope your flight was enjoyable" he greeted, "i'm thibaud françois, you're driver for the day"
his accent was thick but he seemed friendly, instantly insisting he carried victoria's bags and leading the way to the car. he loaded her things into the back and opened the door for vic to get into the front passenger seat.
"i have been given an address by monsieur hemmings, is that name familiar to you?"
victoira understood that it was thibauds job to check that he had the right person in his car and was taking them to the correct location.
"yes i'm meeting him at his hotel" she confirmed with a nod.
he adjusted the temperature in the car and turned down the radio that had been playing quietly.
"so this is a holiday? if you don't mind me asking of course"
"well luke is in a band on tour. we're really good friends so i'm joining him this week"
"ah friends in paris. you know this beautiful place is the city of love?"
victoria rolled her eyes at the teasing of the man who was practically a stranger to her but she couldn't stop the smile on her face.
"it is a beautiful place" vic agreed ignoring the first and last parts of the previous statement. she leaned her head against the window taking in the sights.
it was mesmerising to her how cities could be so different based on what country they were in. la was always busy with flashy cars, shops and office buildings making up the main streets. from what she had seen so far the capital city was much different, from the architecture to the way people were strolling around, not particularly in a rush. maybe that was because of the time of day or maybe it was simply different cultures and customs.
"i agree" he nodded turning a corner, "we are not far from the hotel now"
victoria texted luke to let him know she wasn't far away; she hadn't left america since she was fifteen so she wanted him to meet her inside.
