"pleasure doing business with you miss anderson"victoria shook hands with a tall lady dressed in a black pencil skirt, her bright lipstick bleeding into the wrinkles around her mouth. she handed vic a folder with various documents in and three bunches of keys for the front door, back and side entrances and also a button for the garage.
the lady explained a few things about the community and how cars could be registered at the gate to be allowed through.
victoria looked up at the house when the lady had left. she took a picture from the driveway and sent it to luke to confirm it was all his.
she unlocked the front door and headed inside. everything was furnished but there was no personality or homely feel to it yet.
victoria went upstairs lugging the bag luke had given her into the master bedroom and began hanging up some of luke's shirts in the closet as well as folding and stacking a few pairs of jeans and sweatpants.
at the bottom of the bag was a grey hoodie. if she took it luke wouldn't know as long as she washed and returned it before he was home.
she didn't have anything to do at the house so once everything was in the right place she made her way back to her car to drive home.
instead of going home straight away she decided to visit melissa in work to make plans for the weekend. mel worked as a waitress, it wasn't a high paying job but she enjoyed it and it was enough to get her by. her parents were very wealthy people and never let her struggle if she needed money.
victoria pulled luke's hoodie over the tank top she was wearing. it was a cold evening which was unusual for where she lived so vic was glad that she had taken it.
when she got to the diner she noticed melissa serving a group of teenagers so she took a seat at the bar on her own.
even when melissa was stood in front of victoria on the other side of the bar she still hadn't noticed her best friend.
"any chance of a drink around here" vic joked raising an eyebrow at mel.
"oh hey babe! sorry i hadn't even noticed you were here"
"thought i'd come visit you and sort a night out"
melissa got victoria a milkshake, the same one that vic asked for every time, and put in an order for burger and fries.
"so luke's gone?"
"can we have one conversation were you don't ask me about luke"
melissa laughed knowing that it was easy to wind vic up about luke.
"but yes he left this morning. i've been to his new house today" she said swinging a bunch of keys around her index finger.
"is it big enough for a party?"
melissa imagined it straight away. they could invite so many people if the house really was as big as victoria had described. it would be like a house warming party, just without the owner.
"mel don't even think about it. we aren't having a party there, especially when luke hasn't even moved in yet"
"that's more of a reason to have one. there's nothing personal there to get ruined. he doesn't even have to know"
"no not a chance" victoria shook her head sipping on the cream topped chocolate milkshake that melissa had just slid over the counter.
melissa smirked still not giving up on the idea just yet. she excused herself momentarily to greet a couple that had just sat down and serve the rowdy teenagers in the corner booth.
