Chapter 31 (Hannah’s P.O.V.)

Oh no, what was he doing here? I froze as soon as my eyes landed on his face. I wanted nothing more than to turn and run, but how could I with Liam with me? I could only hope that he wouldn’t recognize me.

                “Hannah?”

I felt my heart stop. I was in trouble now.

                “Hannah, we need to talk.”

I looked at him, “Not now.”

“Why?” he looked at me. His eyes than landed on Liam. I could just imagine how bad this could turn, so I decided to take the best option.

“Fine,” I said, grabbing his arm and pulling him toward the back. I looked to Liam, “Give me a minute.” I hated how stern I sounded, but I really did not want to be doing this right now. He nodded as he watched us walking away.

I sat down, “What do you want, Jake?”

Jake sat down across from me, “I want answers.”

I groaned as I rubbed my hands across my face. “I already answered you.”

“What?” he seemed upset, “That you just felt like I wasn’t the one? Do you honestly expect me to believe that bullshit?”

He was mad. I could tell that, but I wasn’t exactly happy either.

“I expect you to believe the truth.”

“Oh really?” he was glaring at me. He was questioning everything that I said. “And you expect me to believe all of your ‘not the one’ crap when I see you out with another guy?”

I knew he was going to take it this way. “Why are you even asking me? You’ve already made up your mind. I know you’re not going to listen to a word I say.”

I was practically growling at him now. I couldn’t stand this. He was always like this, once his mind was set on something there was no swaying him.

“It wouldn’t be so bad if you would just tell me the truth.”

“I did tell you the truth!” I hissed at him. I was really sick of his attitude toward the whole thing. He really just needed to grow up and get over it.

“Hey, sorry to interrupt,” I looked up to see Liam standing next to the table, “but I just got a call from the guys and we need get back.”

“Okay,” I sighed as I stood up. I walked up to Liam, but I was stopped by a hand on my wrist.

                “We weren’t done yet.”

I yanked my arm away from Jake, “Yes we are.” I said it firmly before turning away with Liam.

“I’m not done!” I heard Jake call after me before Liam and I were out the door.

The two of us walked down the street in silence for a little while. I think Liam could tell that my little meeting with Jake had really put me in a bad mood. I scolded myself, I shouldn’t be letting him ruin my day. And I definitely shouldn’t take it out on Liam, he had nothing to do with Jake.

“So,” I finally broke the silence, “what did the guys want?”

Liam looked down at me with a smile, “Nothing.”

I looked at him confused, “What do you mean?”

“I could tell that you didn’t want to be with that guy, so I came up with an excuse to get you out of there.”

I stared up at him in disbelief. Liam had pulled that little stunt to help save me from Jake.

“I really owe you one.” I sighed. And the more I thought about it, I wasn’t sure if I could repay him for how much he had saved me. “You came to my rescue yet again.”

He chuckled, “Yeah, I seem to be good at that.”

I chuckled too. It did seem like Liam was always coming to my rescue, I mean he had found me in that alley. What were the odds that he would be walking by the moment that I was being held against my will by some nut? I wasn’t questioning fate’s design or anything, I was happy that he had saved me that night. If he hadn’t, there was no telling what would have happened to me in the end, and I wouldn’t have met him or the guys. And the girls and I had a lot of fun hang out with the boys.

“So where to now?” I asked him.

He looked down and me, “Wherever our feet take us?”

He smiled at me as he took my hand and began to lead me through the crowds. I couldn’t help but smile back. I really did like the sound of that.
