Chapter 50 (Liam’s P.O.V.)
Hannah had been gone for a while, and I was starting to worry. It was as if Tracey had read my mind.
“I wonder what’s taking Hannah so long.”
That didn’t help my worrying at all. I couldn’t sit here any longer and worry about her.
“I’m going to go find her,” I said as I stood up and headed for the door. I looked around for a moment, wondering where she could have gone to make her call. Then my eyes landed on the exit door to the right of the lounge area, it was open. That answered my question.
I walked over, ready to step through when a voice stopped me.
“I have to make you pay.”
I knew this voice. It took me a moment as I leaned out the door and looked toward the sound of the voice. I saw the man from the alley that night and he was holding Hannah up against the wall. She looked terrified and I saw why. It wasn’t just him, it was also the gun that he was holding to her neck.
I couldn’t let this happen. I was moving before I knew what I was doing. My fist made contact with his face, causing him to stumble backwards. He was still holding the gun and I knew I had to get rid of it. So I kicked forward, my foot making contact with his hand and the gun went flying.
“You little!” he yelled as he charged at me.
My jaw stung as his fist made contact with it. I ducked, knowing that a second swing was coming. I stood back up, throwing a punch forward. My fist made contact with his stomach. I heard him lose his breath as he stumbled back. It took him only a moment to recover and come at me again. I side-stepped and hit him in the ear. He stumbled again, taking longer to recover this time. I took my opening and round house kicked him in the head. His eyes shut as he fell onto the ground. I stayed ready in case he got up again, but he didn’t move. I stood up straight and sighed. I owed security for the self-defense lessons that they gave all of us boys.
“What happened?”
I turned to see the others in the doorway. I guessed that they had heard the commotion.
“He attacked Hannah again.” I said as I remembered Hannah.
I spun around to see she had slid to the ground and was hugging her knees. I ran over to her and knelt down.
“Hannah?”
She didn’t move. She wouldn’t even look at me, “Hannah?”
I knew she needed to move, but she wouldn’t on her own. I turned to the others.
“One of you call the police. And keep an eye on that guy.” I pointed to the goon that I had knocked out. I didn’t wait to get a response from them, I looped my arms behind and under Hannah before picking her up bridal-style. I carried her passed the others and inside. I didn’t stop at the lounge area, because I knew she would want to be away from everything, so walked to our dressing room. I set her down on a couch that was in the back and sat down beside her.
“Hannah?” I wrapped my arms around her. “It’s okay now. I’m here.”
She just shook her head as she cried into my chest. “I was so scared.”
“Shhh,” I hushed her, “I know.”
She sat up and looked at me, the tears streaming down her face. “He was going to… he said he was going to make me pay, Liam. He said I had ruined him and he had to make me pay.” She was rambling on and on. I could see the terror in her eyes and hear the fear in her voice. She was completely shaken.
“I didn’t know what to do.” She cried, “I couldn’t do anything. He was going to…”
She trailed off as her voice broke. She didn’t want to say it, and I didn’t want her to say it either.
“He was going to…”
I couldn’t hear her say it either. I wasn’t going to. I needed to do something, so I did. I placed my hands on each of her cheeks and leaned in. I closed my eyes as my lips connected with hers.
