Chapter 39 (Sabrina’s P.O.V.)
I had been so excited when Zayn had texted me this morning. I was really happy that he wanted to hang out this morning. And he even bought me some hot chocolate. This morning was seeming perfect. A part of me as saying that it was too perfect, but I ignored it. I just wanted to enjoy today and if Zayn wanted to join me, then he was free to.
“So did everyone have fun this last night?”
“Yeah,” he nodded before taking a drink of his hot chocolate.
“That’s good.” I blew on mine before taking a drink. “Where they all still in party mode this morning?”
I watched his face fall for a moment. I wondered what was wrong, debating whether or not to ask. But he told me anyway.
“Louis and Eleanor got in to a big fight this morning.”
“What?” I looked at him. “What about?”
He shook his head, “I’m not sure. All I know is that someone got slapped.”
“Probably Louis.” I said, taking another drink, “He wouldn’t hit Eleanor.”
“Yeah,” he replied, taking another drink. “But how are the girls?”
“Alice told me that Hannah’s still in bed. Evidently, she was up late on the phone with Liam last night.”
“Oh really,” he raised an eyebrow. “Now that you mention it, I don’t think I saw Liam up this morning.”
We both rose eyebrows at each other as we shared a common thought. We began to laugh. I loved how we could do that sometimes.
“Good to know that they are getting along.” Zayn muttered.
We laughed some more before I started up again, “Yeah.”
“What about you and Tracey?”
I sat up straighter, “Oh that’s right.” How had I forgotten this? “Tracey’s apartment got trashed last night.”
“What?” Zayn stared at me, “What do you mean?”
“Someone broke into her apartment and trashed it. They left a note that said something about her leaving someone’s man alone. We were all really confused.”
He nodded his head. He seemed to be trying to figure it out himself. I watched as he swirled his hot chocolate a little.
“Anyway,” he started up again. “How are you this fine morning?” He had leaned onto the table as he said it in a suave voice. This made me smile.
“I am doing just fine.”
He raised an eyebrow, “Only fine?”
I looked at him few a moment, before deciding to play along. I put on an innocent voice as I lean forward too. “Is that a bad thing?”
“You could be better.”
I laughed. This was just great. I cursed my acting skills for failing me right there, but I just had to laugh.
“I suppose.” I finally managed to say. Zayn was smiling at me softly.
“So how are you this fine morning?” I changed into a suave voice.
He looked down at his drink, “Better in a way.”
I raised an eyebrow at him, “Why? What happened?”
“Perrie and I got into a fight a few days ago.” he started, “We decided to go our separate ways, but we’re fine with it. I just still feel bad about the fight.”
“I’m sorry, Zayn.” I wasn’t sure what to say to him. I felt really bad that he and Perrie broke up, but it seemed that they weren’t on bad terms, which was good. And he even seemed to be having fun with me this morning.
“Hey Sabrina,” he said as he took a deep breath.
“Yeah?” I asked. I had noticed the change in mood.
He leaned his elbow on the table and held out his pinky to me. “I was hoping we could make another promise.”
“Sure,” she smiled as I looped my pinky in his.
I watched as he took another deep breath and bit his lower lip. I could tell that he was really nervous and I wanted to know why. I kind of made me a little nervous too.
“I want you to know that I am being completely serious with what I am about to say.” He said, still looking down.
“Okay,” I nodded.
He took another deep breath before looking up at me, “Sabrina, if I give you my heart will you promise to take care of it?”
I felt my heart stop. Had Zayn really just asked me to take care of his heart if he gave it to me? I was in utter shock. He looked at me with a worried look as I didn’t respond.
“Zayn?” I breathed, “Are you…?”
He nodded before I could finished, “I’m asking you to be my girlfriend.”
I felt tears come to my eyes as I smiled. I nodded my head to him and he smiled wider than ever. He reached over and placed his free hand on mine as we just sat there and continued to talk and hang out. The whole time, we never unlaced our pinkies.
