Chapter 33 (Zayn’s P.O.V.)

I watched as everyone from my place leaning against the doorframe that led to Hannah’s kitchen. They were all laughing and having a good time. I was glad, I just couldn’t join them yet. My mind was still in a muddle from what Perrie had said yesterday. She had told me that I needed to pick between her and Sabrina, but why? Sabrina and I were just friends, weren’t we?

I sipped my soda as I watched her from across the room. She was sitting on the couch next to Harry as Niall and Liam raced on Hannah’s Wii. She had decided to start the game fest with MarioKart. It was evidently a good idea, because they were all having a blast.

                “Woo!” Sabrina cheered, “Go Niall!”

I felt a pang in my chest as she cheered him on. I turned away, suddenly wanting to look somewhere else. My eyes landed on Hannah’s house phone, making me think of my own phone. I hadn’t heard from Perrie since our fight yesterday. I couldn’t really say anything, because I hadn’t tried to talk to her either. Maybe I should, she was just being paranoid again. I pushed off the doorway to get my phone from my pocket, but I stopped when my eyes landed on Sabrina.

She was holding her stomach as she laughed along with everyone else. I felt a smile on my face, I loved to see her happy. I loved that smile of hers too. It just seemed to brighten up the room.

‘Wait,’ I thought. What was I thinking? Sabrina was my friend. We talked to each other because we enjoyed each other’s company. I stopped myself again. We enjoyed each other’s company.

“That wasn’t cool.” Niall grumbled as he passed me to go into the kitchen.

“You should have known better than to face off against Liam.” I turned my back to the others. He sighed as he grabbed a can of Coke and took a big drink.

                “I had to try.”

I shook my head at him, “Niallers, you know that none of us have ever beaten Liam in MarioKart before. That’s why we call him the King.”

“Fine,” he sighed, “but what about you?”

I looked at him, “What do you mean?”

“I can see that you’ve been standing there in thought, mate.” I moved his head in the direction of the doorframe. Of course, someone was going to question me about it.

“Just thinking.” I shrugged my shoulders.

Niall nodded his head as he walked toward me. He placed his hand on my shoulder, right before he left the kitchen.

                “I’m behind you.”

And just like that, he was gone. I turned back around, sighing as I leaned on the doorframe again. My eyes immediately landing on the couch. She was celebrating with Tracey and Alice as Hannah was celebrating. Liam was shaking his head as Harry and Louis stared at the TV in shock. Niall stopped, looking at the screen and nearly spitting out his drink. He pointed, “There’s no way.”

“It’s okay, Liam.” Hannah said as she hugged him from the side, “Everyone loses their touch at some point.”

I noticed how she hesitated after she had hugged him. He probably shocked her or something.

“Fine,” he tried pouting, but I knew he couldn’t do it. He wanted to smile and hug her back. Everyone could tell. Everyone, except for Hannah, but I guess that was normal. When one person is in love, the other takes a while you realize it.

‘What about you?’ that little voice asked me. ‘Have you realized who you love yet?’

I looked over at Sabrina. She was bouncing up and down as Hannah went to go change the game. She seemed so happy. Then I thought of Perrie. She was always so happy around me. I could still hear her telling me that she loved me and that she missed me so much.

“Just Dance!” Alice yelled, “Hannah’s won.” She leaned back on the couch in defeat. The girls laughed.

“You don’t know that yet.” Hannah said, holding up a controller. “Who’s up first?”

“Me!” Sabrina rose her hand and jumped to her feet.

I watched as her and Hannah looked through the songs and tried to decide which song to do. They ended up choosing between two songs. I wanted to laugh at the irony.

‘Choose your song, Zayn.’ I thought, ‘and be careful choosing.’
