I fell asleep that night with a wide grin on my face. It has been exactly three days since the wedding, Hades and I have somewhat gotten to be better friends. I was sitting on my bed, unconsciously playing with my wedding ring while doodling. I heard a knock on my door and went over to open it.
"Oh! Hey Sebastian, I haven't seen you lately," I commented.
"Yeah, I'm sorry your majesty, just a lot of work to do around here," he apologized.
"Well then, no worries. Anyways, is there a specific reason you're here?" I kindly asked.
"Oh yes, Hades and Zeus need your presence in the throne room," he said.
"Okay, I'll be there soon," I dismissed him. I quickly changed into something more appropriate than pajamas. I teleported to the throne room, not wanting to walk all the way there. Don't judge me, you would do it too if you had the power.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked them. They turned their bodies to me, having looks of panic on their face, "Oh no, did something happen to my mother?!" I asked worried.
"Nothing bad happened, but we do want to talk about your mother," said Hades.
"Oookkaaayy?" I said confused.
"You might want to sit down," father said, and I did exactly that.
"Okay, let's just get right to the point. Your mother doesn't really know that I kidnapped you, not yet anyways," Hades really doesn't beat around the bush.
I gripped the handles on my throne tightly, "Wait, so you guys LIED to me. Why?" unbelievable.
"Yes, we did and we are very sorry. We thought it would be best to tell you AFTER the wedding." Hades replied.
"What, so that you'll trap me into a marriage?" I sneered.
"I just didn't want you to leave me," he argued back.
"Well guess what, I was gonna leave you either way. Once we got married and then FINALLY you let me go back to my mother, I would have run away with her, hideaway from you forever. But that plan was before I found out who my parents really are and that I was a Goddess. Now that I think about it, I'm a Goddess, so I could leave this place whenever I want to and hide away from you, and still be able to do my duties."
"I don't think that's possible, because you ate a pomegranate seed from here, and if you do that, you're bonded to me and the Underworld until half the year has ended, kind of like the deal we made," he proudly admitted. I remember eating the salad with pomegranate seeds, I found it odd but never thought anything of it, damn it.
I stood up, walked to Hades, and slapped him hard, hard enough for him to stumble back. Before I could slap him again, my father came from behind me, grabbed my shoulders and steered me back to my seat.
"Please, let's just settle this in a polite manner," Zeus said.
"I can do whatever I want, didn't you lie to me too, so did everyone, so I don't need to listen to you," I snapped at my father and he looked a bit hurt.
"I won't tolerate this behavior, I will get Demeter this instance to settle things. I'll be back," and he vanished.
"I can't believe you! You tricked me into staying here, I HATE YOU," I screamed at Hades.
"I didn't mean for you to hate me, I just wanted you as MY wife and MY queen. Because I absolutely hate sleeping on my king sized bed and waking up with the spot next to me cold. I just wanted someone to spoil and love to death, and when I saw you, it was like a light came into my life. I was determined to make you mine, even though you never wanted to be mine," he sighed.
I stayed quiet, not knowing what to feel. Finally, father came back...with my mother. Wow he convinced her fast.
"Persephone? Oh, it is you," my mother exclaimed and pulled me in a tight hug. "Oh gosh, come on let's go Persephone, I won't let you stay here another minute."
"Mother, I can't. I, without knowledge, ate a pomegranate seed and now I have to stay here for half of the year," I told her. She had a look of anger etched on her face. She turned to Hades and slapped him.
"Un-fricking-do this, RIGHT NOW!," she shouted.
"I can't," he gritted out, "what's done is done."
"Well, then I'll just break the rules and take my daughter back to Earth," she smirked.
"The Underworld won't allow her to leave here unless half the year is done. When it is, she can return to Earth for the other half of the year. When that's done, she'll be forced to come back here, and that's the cycle." My mother's smirk dropped.
My mother turned to me, "Why did you have to be so stupid and marry him Persephone? Now you'll have to stay here."
"I'm stupid?" I scoffed, "I did all of that just so I could see you."
"Guys, guys, calm down. There's an easy way to resolve this." Zeus said, "The resolution is the deal that Hades and Persephone made. She has to stay here for half the year and fulfill her duties as Queen. Then once the six months or so has past, she can go up on Earth to fulfill her springtime duties. Then repeat that proc-" he was cut off.
"NO, I won't allow it," huffed my mother, I just rolled my eyes.
"Mother, just let it go, I will never be able to escape this so you just need to accept it and comply.
"But-"
"But nothing. Just agree mother, please," she still looked unconvinced, "Mom?" when I said that she snapped her head to me and her eyes were sparkling. Soon after, she slowly nodded.
"But you better not hurt her," she pointed a finger at Hades, "If you do, you'll have to fight me," she threatened. I knew she secretly thought Hades would be a good match for me, but it might take me quite a while to forgive him.
"Ooohhh what are you gonna do to me, stab me with a carrot?" Hades whispered so only he could hear, but I heard it anyways. I slapped him hard in his arm and he yelped, "What you do that for?"
"Many, many reasons," I smirked.
