"So do I have like, powers or something," I asked excitedly.
"No, you will have your powers and immortality when you turn 18, which is in a few days," he paused then continued, "I have a great idea, we should throw you a birthday party, so you can meet our relatives before your wedding."
"Do you want to?" I looked at Hades.
"If you want," he shrugged.
"Okay, we'll do that. Do I have to do any planning for the party?" I asked father.
"No, we'll have a planner for that, we would just need some information from you. Like your favorite color, cake, music, stuff like that," he smiled. He excused himself, he had to go back to his wife to sort things out. He went for a hug but I stuck with a handshake instead.
"Come on, let's go eat dinner," Hades grabbed my hand and gently pulled me to the dinner table. We talked a bunch while eating, ranging from our likes and dislikes, or funny stories from the past. Then we moved onto the topic of my mother.
"What is my mother doing right now?" I inquired.
His body went stiff, "I don't know right now, I haven't checked yet, but I'm pretty sure she's fine, physically anyway," he looked away.
"Oh, well when you do, can you tell me?" I gave him my puppy face. He gave me his signature smile and nodded. I went to sleep that night with a slight smile on my face.
**************
A few days passed by quickly. The invitations have been sent to Hades' family and friends, it would be held in the Underworld. Before I knew it, it was the night of my birthday party. I wore a black tight dress with lace sleeves , it was daring but still appropriate. I was freaking out, what if Hades' family doesn't approve of me. Oh my gosh, I need help, and it came.
"Persephone," she took ahold of my shoulders and shook me, "calm down, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. They will love you, trust me," Cora said.
"You're right, I don't know why but I'm like really nervous," I pulled on my hair.
"Don't be, Hades and I will be there with you. But mostly Hades cause I have to help in the kitchen," she gave me a sorry smile.
"Oh what a great help you are," I replied sarcastically.
"I am great help, cause I'm gonna do your hair and makeup," she said excitedly.
It took at least an hour to perfect everything. In the end, I could hardly recognize myself, probably because I hardly ever dress up. My silky black hair was in tight curls and was half pinned up, the makeup got rid of my imperfections and made me look more mature. I felt beautiful. I thanked Cora and she left the room, shortly after, someone knocked at my door. I opened it too see Hades standing there, looking gorgeous as ever in a tux.
"Wow," he coughed, " you look beautiful, as always," he looked fondly at me.
"Thank you, so do you," but I realized my mistake, "wait no sorry, I meant handsome, not beautiful. Not that you aren't beautiful-" I was cut off.
"I think I understand now," he laughed with me joining him. "I think it's time for your grand entrance, don't you think so too?" he asked and I shyly nodded. He held out his arm for me to grab, and we walked down the hall towards the ballroom, kinda like the one in the dinner room but bigger. I could hear the chattering all the way from here, warning me that there were a lot of people.
I could feel the nerves starting up again, as if Hades felt them too, he started rubbing the back of my hand with his thumb which instantly calmed me. "Don't worry, I'm right here," he whispered in my ear. "Here's a few starter tips, number one, hold your head up high, like a Queen. Number two, be polite to everyone, even if they piss you off. Lastly, number three, smile," he advised me.
And I did.
