As the elevator door opened, Abby was already standing in front of them, a box of evidence in her hands.
She dropped it.
No one seemed to move and Ziva thought about something to say.
Hey, I'm back from Israel, I missed you too, sorry for all the fuss?
Nothing appeared to be fitting at the moment.Abby rubbed her eyes as if this was some strange illusion.
Then she kicked the evidence box aside and stepped forwards.
"You're real?" She asked with a husky voice.
"I am. It's good to see you." Ziva replied. Abby pulled her into her arms and squeezed tighter than ever before.
For a second, Ziva thought she would choke but then she didn't.
She hugged back. After they let go, she opened her mouth to explain, but Abby raised her finger.
"I don't want you to excuse. I want you to be 100% sure that you'll stay here because if you don't, that'll freak me out.
Again. What do you say?"Ziva managed to pull up one corner of her mouth. "I'm pregnant."
She heard McGee gasp and Abby stared at her, eyes filled with terror.
Then Abby screamed.
"You're pregnant! This is wonderful!
I'm gonna be an auntie!"
Ziva nodded awkwardly.
"Again." Abby added.
"What does that mean?"
"Don't you know? Jimmy's a dad, too. You missed some things while you were gone" Abby answered and Ziva turned around to the others in the elevator.Gibbs shrugged "I got shot."
Ziva didn't know if he was joking at first, then she felt bad.
"Can we get out of the elevator maybe?" Ellie asked."Yes! Yes, sorry. I should probably pick this up..." Abby made room for them to get out and started putting the evidence back together in the box.
"What are we doing now?"
Tim dared to ask.
Ziva noticed the small flag she always used to have on her desk standing now on Abby's.
It made her smile."There are some bad guys after her. We have to keep her safe." Tony answered.
"She got attacked in the hospital and we didn't think it was secure enough at my house." Gibbs explained and everyone nodded.
"I'll ask Ducky to come here. We'll take some blood samples if that's fine with you." Abby scheduled.
Ziva agreed. She noticed Tony's eyes seeking hers and smiled at him.
No one had asked about them yet, and she was kind of glad about it because she wouldn't have known what to answer.
It's complicated? Things like that always sounded really bad, on her opinion. She wished she could talk to him alone again so that they could discuss it.
Or so she could just bring her lips together with his again. She didn't notice the time pass until the elevator door opened again and Ducky stepped out of it.
"Ziva!" His wrinkled face lit up as he saw her.How were they all not mad at her?
She hugged the old man shortly; then he stroked her curls out of her face and examined her.
"You are alright, I am so glad."
"You're doing well, too?"
"I am, yes, I am... why didn't you instantly tell me this insignificant detail?"
He stared at her belly and she laughed. "I am with child" She said, unnecessarily."Congratulations, my dear!" He smiled. She looked at Tony again and in that moment, the answer to the unasked question should have been obvious to everyone in the room.
Abby's grin grew brighter and McGee caught himself looking at her.
Everyone seemed to be happy in the room, and that was until a bullet shot through the window.
