Dresil is a dish served in Tibet on Buddhist holidays. Traditionally the Tibetan people eat the sweet rice the morning of the first day of the New Year.

In Tibet Dresil is made with droma (like a small sugary sweet potato) found in grassy areas in Tibet. But I doubt that Wholefoods carries it so we will make it without droma. Dresil is a favorite dish of the Dalai Lama. I'm sure your compassion and love will grow with every bite. For a healthier version, I use brown rice.

Ingredients

3 cups brown rice cooked

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 cup cashews

1 cup raisins (you can also add other dried fruit)

¼ cup sugar

Directions

1.Cook the rice (I use a rice cooker)

2.Mix the butter in with the hot rice then add the sugar cashews, raisins and dried fruit

3.Serve while still warm
