Everything on the outside is fleeting, your beauty, age, wealth, possessions, etc. You will eventually lose those things. Even if you do get the brand new fancy car or house or whatever; if you base your happiness on that then you will need an even fancier car or bigger house and it becomes a vicious cycle. 2) Be of service – help the less fortunate
3) Seek a spiritual life
4) Gratitude for what you have
5) As Scott Peck says, have self love rather than self esteem
6) Self knowledge – look at your character defects and work on them
7) Admit when you're wrong – it's not making a mistake that is the problem but defending it
8) Live your life with purpose – you're here for a reason
9) Be kind and loving to all even if you don't like the person or they've "wronged" you
10) Forgive and don't hold resentments
