Who You Can Be

Take care, dear friend, to protect your heart,

As when times of trouble come rolling through,

You'll know when to start,

And you'll know what to do.

When a man you know betrays your trust,

How are you to act? How are you to decide?

Will you hurt the man back, if you think you must?

Or will you take compassion, forgiveness, try to empathize?

Who you choose to be impacts the way you choose to live your life.

Do you wish it to be joyous, satisfying, full of fun and laughter?

Or do you wish for deception, perversion, anger and strife?

Choose wisely, for that is what you will be after.

You are on a quest. You are in a room with hundreds of evil potions.

Are you to take every single one of them down and drink their lotions?

Will you set aside one in the corner, saying to yourself, "I think

That I won't take this, not because it's evil, but because it's pink,

And I don't like pink." How is that sound? How is that wise?

Good is good. Evil is evil. There shouldn't be any disguise.

Take care, dear friend, to protect your heart,

For if you commit to it, you will know what to do.
