Hey Dad, it's your day
It's all about you, and
You like it that way
It almost seems common
The word 'day' as it appears,
So flat, so three-lettered,
It looks like it's been sheared.
But add in two dimensions, two D's if you will,
And all of a sudden, new burst of life springs forth,
Making a five lettered word three-dimensional,
And best of all, it spells 'Daddy' of course!
Now I know you're not the perfect parent,
But I'm not going down that route again.
If I can accept you for who you are, then I
Can rest easy for myself, and that's a win.
Other people may not be so forgiving,
Thinking you to be too serious in your work,
Too sarcastic in your jokes, and then there's your
Accent, which makes you stand out like a dork.
While those are all faults which I can't explain away,
I do focus on the positive things, such as you're funny,
You're smart, you think for yourself, and because of those
Strengths, I can love you because it's Father's Day.
