She doesn't seem to notice that I was there.I cleared my throat. At last, she sees me.She looked up from her book with surprise.I don't know if that surprise face was good or bad.Let's go for the good option.
"Hello." I tried to stay as calm as ever.
She gave me a confused smile."You're that guy that's always staring."
"Huh?" I wanted to slap myself."Oh yes, that guy." She had an accent. But what accent exactly? I couldn't put my finger on it.
Pull yourself together,Tom.Forget about pick up lines. That won't work.Well, maybe it will.Nah,no pick up lines.
"I'm sorry, but I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I left this place without getting to know you." She giggled.
"I'll... see you later.I need to go buy some things real quick." Another voice spoke up.I looked to the right to see another girl. She had really outstanding purple hair.Must be her friend. Now,how could I not have noticed her beforehand? With her purple hair,I couldn't have been so blind.I guess my eyes was way too fixed on the other girl whose name I have not learnt yet.
"I apologise.I was obviously interrupting something wasn't I?"
"No,no,no.She was too engrossed in her book anyways."
"Marie. You're my ride remember?" American. Now,how could I not have picked up that accent the first time I heard her speak? Well, she's technically different.
"What? You think I've forgotten? Just give me a call, bye. Love you!" She said walking out the door, making the Bell above it jingle.
I turned back to the girl. She looked like she didn't know how to speak.I don't blame her. Some weird guy is talking to her.Can you guess who?
"May I?" I gestured to the seat that was once occupied by Marie. She nodded slowly."So,what's your name?" I mentally slapped myself.Way to go.Being a creep on the first question. To my surprise, she grinned.
"Julia.Julia Sanderson." So simple yet beautiful.
"Is it short for Julianna?" I stupidly asked.
"Nope,just Julia."
"You're not gonna ask for my name?"
"Should I?" She placed a bookmark on the page that she was currently reading before shutting it and pushing it to the side.
"Yes,generally. It's kinda rude not to.That's how people make friends." I clasped my hands together on the table.
"Oh,is that what this is?" She stared at me with those green eyes. Her eyes were almost every shade of green.I may look confident on the outside but on the inside,I was already sweating a water tank of sweat.
"Perhaps."
"Fine. What's your name?" Julia rolled her eyes.
"Tom.Tom Watson." I smiled.
"Is it short for Thomas?" She mocked me.
"Nope.Just Tom." I mocked back playfully."So what brings you to London?"
"What makes you think I'm from somewhere else?" She questioned.
"Besides your obvious accent,um,your accent."
"You don't need to be sarcastic. Why should I be telling you when I don't even know who you are." She crossed her arms over her chest.
"Technically, you do know who I am.I'm Tom."
"Tuche'." She narrowed her eyes at me.
This girl is tough I tell you.I admit. She's stubborn.Which is a first.I kinda like it.It gives me something to deal with.
I mean, don't get me wrong.I am not a playboy.I'm a pretty decent lad if you ask me.Getting girls' on the first try has never been difficult for me.But somehow, just somehow, Julia Sanderson is being hard to get.
"I live here with my friend that just walked out."
"What is your job here?"
"At a bookstore. That's all I'm giving you." She gave me a lopsided grin.
"Fair enough.Would you like a cup of coffee?" I was smiling like mad.
"Oh,no thank you.I detest coffee.I prefer tea." She shook her head slowly."Besides I have to go now.Not that I don't want to continue our conversation like they do in the movies but I genuinely have to go because my lunch break is over in about 15 minutes. And I don't like to be late."
She got up,placing her books into her purse. She slung it over her shoulder, slid her chair into the table before making her way towards the exit.No.She can't leave yet. I still have so many questions like why does she prefer tea over coffee?
She's such a wonder.
I continued sitting.Thinking.Debating whether or not I should run after her.I clenched my fist.I got up abruptly, stopping her from opening the door just as her hand touched the handle.Making the bell on the door jingle slightly.
I touched her hand that was stretched out to open the door."Will I ever see you again?" I breathed.
"Maybe." She smiled sweetly.
"I need more than a maybe.I need to know for sure."
"Why do you care about me? We're literally complete strangers.Besides, there's nothing special about me.I'm just a girl that works in a bookstore."
I didn't say anything.
"I come here every day during lunch hours so..." She dragged on,gripping her purse tightly, staring at her feet.
"You're not lying?"
"I don't lie,Tom Watson."
