Julia's POV
A month.

That's how long it's been since we last met. I've been too much of a coward to actually text him back. I guess you could say that I've been ignoring him.

Intentionally.

I'm trying to forget. I can't. I've been avoiding lunch hours lately. Do you know how hard that is for me? Really. I have to bring my own food from home or my friends would get take out for me. I don't wanna risk seeing him at the coffee shop. So Marie and Brady always go without me. They'd meet him once in a while. Him asking them where I was and they'd cover for me saying that I've caught the worst case of 'writer's flu'. (FYI,that's not actually a real sickness,my friends are just really bad at lying) He'd be confused and ask Marie if he could visit me and she'd say that the 'doctor' doesn't allow visitors. He'd eventually stop asking. He had sent a messenger (Marie) to deliver me flowers with a little get well soon card. I didn't respond to it. Well,I obviously appreciated the thought but I was still confused with everything.

It was currently Sunday,I layed on my bed reading the card over and over again. I sighed softly when there was a knock. I swiftly hid the letter under my pillow, sitting upright.

"Come in."

"Hey,Nikki's calling." Marie said throwing my phone which I had left on the kitchen counter, over to me which I caught just in time. I mouthed a thank you to her and she smiled while rolling her eyes, shutting the door. "Tell her I said hi." She yelled through the door.

"Hey,Nikki." I greeted, falling back on the bed again, crossing my feet over each other.

"Hey,girl." Her happy voice said.

Nikki is my adopted sister. She was adopted before I was born. So that clearly makes her older, she's 2 years older than I am. So,she doesn't feel like an adopted sister but my biological sister since she's been there since my birth. Nikki's a tall and slim girl with brown skin. She was adopted alongside my adopted brother,Jeremy. He was born in Seoul,Korea but was abandoned on the steps of an orphanage in Washington. My parents happily took them both in and he's also the same age as Nikki.

Those two are my adopted siblings. I have more siblings, but I'll get to them later in the story. Basically, to sum up my whole family tree,it will take a while.

"How you doing?" She asked.

"I'm doing good." I lied. "How's Zoe?"

"Annoying. As usual, but she misses you. Speak of the Devil, she wants to talk to you." She groaned softly. I heard footsteps running closer with faint screams. Soon,a young girl's voice spoke through.

"Julia? Is that you?" Her fragile voice said.

Grinning,I said "Hey,Zoe. Yes,it's me. How's school?"

"Scary." She said quietly. "I have one friend only, her name is Kelly. One friend,Juls. "

"It's okay,Zoe. Jeremy will be your friend. And so will Nikki, and Josh and Luke." I tried cheering her up. After all, she's only 11.

"Yeah, but they're my siblings. You're the only one missing." My heart broke at that. I wish I could be there with them. "Anyways,I can't be friends with them. I see them everyday. So it doesn't count."

I laughed. She kinda has a point. Zoe is a rather intelligent little girl. She's the brightest girl of her age, well to me she is. She eventually passed the phone over to Nikki.

"What did the little goober want?" Nikki chuckled.

"She just said she had only one friend." I said. She'd also told me that the kids at her school were making fun of her because she's a so called know-it-all. So what if she is? I don't even know what 8 times 9 is without using a calculator and Zoe knows the answer like it's on the tip of her fingers.
