A honk was heard in the distance. Julia and I immediately turned our heads to the right to see what was going on.A pastel blue car kept on honking as it came up into view.Julia looked at me and gave me an apologetic smile before going off towards the car that was still honking.
"Yes,Marie.I heard you the first time." She began, stepping into the car.
"I just wanted to make sure you were alright. You didn't call me soon enough so I immediately jumped to conclusions that you ran off with some random guy or that you were abducted by him.No offense." She jerked her head at me but smiled afterwards.
"None taken." I said.
"Well,I wasn't abducted and I definitely didn't ran off with some guy. This is Tom by the way." Julia introduced me.
"Uh,hello.Pleasure to meet you." I reached a hand into the window to be shaken by Marie.
"Hello,Tom." Her pearly whites shined as she smiled."I'm sorry to be the party pooper but Julia and I are going to be rotten eggs if we're late.Sorry,Tom."
"No,no.Don't be sorry. There's nothing to be sorry about.I understand.I mean, maybe we'll see each other again." My hands felt clamy inside my pockets.
"6 more minutes, Julia." Marie pressed.
"Sorry." She smiled apologetically, opening the car door and stepping inside.
And with that,she was gone.
I had no hope.Absolutely none. She probably doesn't want anything to do with me after this.If I were her,I wouldn't want anything to do with me either.I instantly regretted walking up to her, sparking up a conversation. It's useless anyways.Who would want to date a preschool teacher? The possibilities are slim.
I scratched the back of my neck as I walked back inside.Sitting back down on my seat,I sipped my beverage.Mikey raised his eyebrows.
"Go on."
"There's a small chance that I'll see her again. She doesn't seem freaked out over me but maybe she's hiding it."
"Who was that girl with purple hair?" Adam coughed.
"Her friend,Marie.Oh did I tell you that she's American?"
"Who, purple hair girl?"
"Marie." I corrected him."And no,she's English.The other girl,Julia.Told you she's different." I leaned back in my seat,smiling like a fool.
"Just by nationality." Mikey rolled his eyes.
"Where does she live?" Adam asked.
"I don't know.Adam,I can't asked her where she lives.I'm a stranger to her.She'd pepper spray me if I do."
"How do you know if she has pepper spray with her?" He scoffed.
"Um,one word.Girl."
"Do you at least know where to find her in London?"
"She only told me she works in a bookstore with Marie."
"So let's go then!"
"Adam, there's a bunch of bookstores in London. How on earth do you plan on finding two specific girls in a day?" Mikey butted in.
"Nobody said in a day." Adam flicked him on the head with his index finger and thumb.
"Why are you so determined to find them?" I asked, eyeing Adam closely. All he did was shrugged.
I'll come back here tomorrow to see if she's here.If not, then I really have no luck.I'm praying that she doesn't think I'm a loser and feel sorry for me.Why would she feel sorry for me you might ask? Well, she probably thinks she hurt my feelings and that it's all her fault for hurting a loser like me.But,I'm not hurt at all.I just feel anxious.I'm anxious to see her again.
I have 40% hope right now.The other 60% went down the toilet bowl.Flushed by my feelings and brain.
I just pray to God that Julia Sanderson hasn't forgotten me yet.
Author's note:
The picture is Marie's pastel blue car, just imagine it not rusty.I'm sorry this chapter's boring. I'll do a little bit of Julia's POV next.Just in case you're wondering what she's thinking about. ;)
