Julia's POV
I'm calling Tom for the third time this evening. He must be extremely busy with paperwork. Every time I called, his voice would be at the other line saying, "It's Tom,I'm busy at the moment so can you please leave a message after the beat."

I sighed. Fine,Tom. I dialed his number again, hearing him say the same thing again. "Hey,Tom. Um,can we do a raincheck? I have some girl problems that I need to take care of. Call me,as soon as you get this. Thanks. I'm sorry for canceling so late. I'll make up for it,promise. Bye."

I stuffed my phone into the back pocket of my jeans. I let out a breath, looking around, drumming my fingers on the kitchen counter before attending to Marie who was sitting Indian style on the couch. She was eating popcorn, her eyes fixed on the TV watching The Notebook.

"Hey,I'm gonna go change." I announced. Her head darted upwards to my direction.

"Okay," she smiled. Behind that smile,I could tell she was still broken.

I made my way to my room,to my closet and picked out my clothes. I stripped out of my dirty clothes and put on my fresh pj's. I switched off the lights and made my way over to the fridge, taking out a tub of cotton candy flavoured ice cream and grabbing two small spoons from one of the drawers. I cradled the ice cream in my arms, and walked over to where Marie was, sitting down on the floor and setting down the tub of sweetness. I opened the container, stabbing a spoon into it gently and then passing the tub to her.

She took it with a sad smile. "Thank you."

I smiled before turning my attention to the movie. It was the part where Noah and Allie went to her parents mansion and they ban her from seeing him. I rolled my eyes, getting a scoop of ice cream from Marie. Honestly, her parents shouldn't be so judgemental. I lost it when her mom called Noah trash. She doesn't understand their love. I decided to paint Marie's nails instead of watching Allie's judgemental mom. I grabbed silvery glitter nail polish from the coffee table and took hold of Marie's left hand, painting her thumb nail first. Basically, that's the summary of our girls night. Just us talking and painting each other's nails and watching sappy chick flicks.

She did tell me everything about Steven too. From what she's told me,I felt like I wanted to go over to his place and kick him in the nuts about fifty times. She didn't cry when she told me those things. She's gotten a lot better ever since this afternoon. She also told me why she dyed her hair blue. It's kind of funny to me. She said she wanted to piss him off with it. That's Marie, she's kind but can be scary if needed. We laughed and laughed a lot that night. It's been quite a long time since our last girls night together. It felt almost refreshing having one again.

It was now midnight. Marie was washing the dishes when my phone rang, indicating it was Tom. Wow,he's calling really late.

"Hey," I said confused, looking over to Marie and mouthed,Tom.

"Hey,I'm so terribly sorry that I'm calling you this late. Did I wake you up?" He said,I could almost hear him rubbing his face in pure frustration.

"No,no." I said, moving from the kitchen to my bedroom. "Did you get my voicemail?"

"Yes,and it's good timing as well. I've got tons and tons of homework to mark. I regret ever giving these kids weekend homework." He complained but it wasn't obvious that he was.

I chuckled, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "You've learnt your lesson,Mr.Watson."

"Yes,I have. Anyway, what sort of girl problem did you have exactly that was so important you had to cancel plans?"

"Oh,it's nothing. Marie just really needed me tonight. You wouldn't understand. Girl problems. They're... complicated." I explained in the most simplest way I could think of.
