Tom's POV
Here I was, just finished a ride on the London Eye,slightly drunk. After my coffee with my mates and after she left,I kinda went a little mad and just a tad ballistic.
You see,I had this sudden thought that was produced by my negative mind that Julia wasn't going to want to come back to that coffee shop. I mean I was being so...I guess you can say creepy. She didn't give me much information as well, all she gave me was her name and where she works, not specifically where but it was good enough. Well,I didn't give her much on me too so I guess it's fair that she doesn't want anything to do with me anymore since I'm boring. So,I automatically assumed that I won't ever get a girl like her, ever.
So I drank. Now I'm tipsy. And met Julia. Again. She just had to show up at the wrong time. I've prayed all afternoon to meet her again. I got my prayer answered. But I just wish I could turn back time to tell myself to not get intoxicated so I would look presentable. I don't even know why I called out to her."Julia?"
"Tom." She sounded surprised. Oh no. She's walking over to me. She can't see me like this. She stood in front of me looking drop dead gorgeous. "Are you okay? You don't look fine." She touched my left shoulder.
"Yeah,just great." I lied.
"You're drunk,aren't you?"
"Technically, tipsy.I'm slightly drunk." I confessed. "How did you know?"
"Your breath smells like alcohol." She whispered to me.I felt so embarrassed. That was a whole new level of embarrassment. "Can you drive? I can drive you to your home if you'd like."
"Yeah,I can drive.I definitely can." I got up,almost falling over if it weren't for Julia to catch me. I ignored her aid and kept walking to prove to her that I'm alright only to end up staggering.
"I'll drive you back.Give me your car keys." I fished it out of my pocket and passed it to her, feeling defeated.
"Hey,what's going on here?" A familiar voice made it's way towards us. My vision was a little bit blurry. But it soon focused to show purple haired girl,Marie, with some guy following behind.Oh,how I hoped it wasn't Julia's boyfriend.
"Tom's drunk."
"Tipsy." I said slurrishly.
"I think I should take him home."
"Yeah,I think that's a good idea. It's not safe for you to drive." Marie said to me.
"Oh,um this is Brady.Brady, this is Tom." Julia introduced me to her possible boyfriend. "He's my colleague and friend." Oh,thank God.
"Nice to meet you, mate." He took hold of my hand and shook it.
"Likewise. Sorry I'm not presentable right now." I apologised to all of them.
"It's okay." Marie smiled. "I hope you'll feel better in the morning,Tom."
"I should probably take him home now.I'll see you later,Marie.I'll see you tomorrow,Brady. Thanks for tonight." Julia took them into an embrace.
"Oh,you're welcome,darling." Marie smiled.
Brady whispered something that I couldn't put together into Julia's ear before trudging away with Marie. I wonder what. I hope it wasn't anything bad about me.
Well,it's just me and her now. How terribly awkward. She had put her arm around my waist which made my face heat up.
"Where's your car?"
"Just down the road over there." I pointed to the area. She helped me walk properly so I wouldn't stagger so much.
When we got inside my car, after I gave her my address, she immediately bombarded me with questions. Questions I was hoping she wouldn't ask. One of the questions were:
"Why are you drunk anyways?" She would ask. And I would say:
"Let's say I needed an escape."
"From what?"
"My mind."
"What's wrong with your mind?" She said curiously.
"My mind...it's as if its a place where negative thoughts come to inhabit. They feed on my mind, eating away my once positive thoughts creating negative ones."
"I know how you feel.I'm not saying that to make you feel better.I actually know what that feels like.I mean,it happened to me not too long ago." She replied steering the steering wheel with poise.
"What were your negative thoughts about?" I looked over to her.
"Um,I can't tell you." She stared ahead, clearly avoiding my gaze.I decided I wasn't going to push her.
"Next time?"
She hesitated. But then sighed softly. "Okay."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
"You have to pinky promise." I said holding out my pinky. Once we were at a stop light, she linked her pinky with mine.
"Tom Watson,we met only hours ago and now we're pinky promising each other.Let alone driving you home.Don't you think it's rather odd?" She laughed.
"No.Not at all." I smirked. "What were you doing out?"
"My friends wanted to celebrate...something that I supposedly achieved today."
"What was it that you achieved?"
"I can't tell you that either.Sorry.Okay,maybe I should add this sorry to our pinky promise.Don't you think?"
"Absolutely." I chuckled. "Oh,that's my house. You can pull up here.Wait, how are you going to get back?" Her eyes widened. She hit her head on the steering wheel.
"I never thought about that.I can't just call Marie or Brady to come get me.It's late."
"You can stay with me for the night." I quickly offered, rubbing her back.
"I couldn't.Besides,we're still technically strangers."
"You're not a stranger to me anymore. You're Julia Sanderson, the girl that took me home when I wasn't able to function properly." I smiled, making her laugh.
"Thanks,Tom."
She got out of the car running over to my side and helping me get up,and locking the car.She placed her arm around my waist to keep me balanced while I unlocked the door to my house.I may seem calm on the outside but oh boy.You do not want to know what's happening inside. It's a ruckus,I'm telling you.
We walked inside. While she was putting the car keys down on the table,I was grabbing two pillows for myself and threw it on the couch.Julia went over to sit but I immediately stopped her.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Getting ready to sleep?"
"No,no.I'm sleeping here, you can take my bed.I insist."
"No,really.I'm nobody.You don't have to."
"Please." I pleaded.
"Oh alright. You should change first though.I don't think it's comfortable sleeping dressed like that." She advised.
"Oh,yes.One moment."
I trudged to my bedroom which will soon be occupied by Julia.I can't believe she's here in my house. This is mad.I'm still a little bit tipsy but I'm trying my best to be sober for the sake of not embarrassing myself once more.I changed clothes quickly into sweatpants and a t-shirt just so I wouldn't freak Julia out with my bare chest.I'm not hairy or anything, I just don't want her getting the wrong idea.I grabbed an oversized t-shirt for her to wear since I don't want her feeling uncomfortable too.
I walked out, fastest I've ever changed in my life. Julia was sitting on the couch waiting for me whilst on the phone with someone. I couldn't hear exactly what they were talking about so I just handed her the t-shirt.
She stood up,covering her phone with her hand."Thank you.I'm sorry,I know I'm a burden." She pursed her lips.
"You are not. Please, you are my guest for the night.I offered you to stay so therefore you are not a burden."
"Goodnight,Tom." She beamed.
