Julia's POV
"You lied to me."

I was standing outside of the coffee shop where I spotted him sitting inside with two other guys. I stood as far away as I could from the giant windows to avoid being seen and blowing my cover.

Although I knew I shouldn't be seeing him,he still caught my eyes. He still made me want him. I couldn't help to at least take a peek at him.

"Julia,I swear I didn't know he was coming today. I guess it was just fate." She made the last part sound like a question. Well, she does sound sincere...

"Well, what do I do now?" I was thinking of all the ways that I could go around him without him spotting me.

If he does, I have a feeling he's going to ask about my illness. My supposed illness. The illness that was created by my dear friends to get me away from him. The illness with an odd name. The illness that nobody would ever fall for. The illness that doesn't even sound real. "What am I going to say if he asks me?" I said.

"Asks what?"

"About my disease."

"I don't know?" She says with an apologetic face.

"I don't exactly have a logical explanation as to why I have writer's flu." I groaned.

"I'm sorry,we could go someplace else." She suggested hopefully.

"No,it's okay. I'm going for it. I can't run away. Not now,at least." I said with slight confidence. I gripped the handle of my purse tightly with already clammy hands.

Marie smiled with a hint of apology then linked her arm with mine, walking into the coffee. It felt weird. Like I didn't belong there. Like I shouldn't be there. Marie pulled me along with her to the counter. "Why don't we just get our lunch to go?" I nodded excitedly. Maybe he won't notice me just for a few minutes. Maybe just maybe.

As she said our orders, I looked around inconspicuously. Covering my face with my hand that layed on the counter for most of the time as we waited for our food. I don't know why but my eyes found its way to look for Tom. I tried so hard not to. But something was wrong. Terribly wrong. I looked around frantically. Then back to that place. That specific area.

He wasn't there.

The other two guys were there chatting away but he was nowhere to be seen. I prayed so hard that he wouldn't be behind me. I shut my eyes extremely tight. Wishing that I had some sort of erasing power to erase my memories of him. Those short yet big memories. Wishing that I'd have amnesia so if he asks me,I wouldn't even know him. Then it'd be easier. It'd be easier to handle.

Well,my wishes didn't come true,unfortunately.

"Julia?" I heard my name being called out from behind. I groaned silently in eternal doom. I slapped Marie's thigh, she looked at me sideways with a knowing look telling me to just wing it. I swirled around putting on my best surprised face.

"Tom." I semi-faked a smile. Part of that smile was true yet false as well.

"What are the odds that we'd see each other again." He said coming closer to me. He stood next to me with his hands in the pockets of his dress pants.

"Yeah,crazy."

Oh,please don't ask me. For heaven's sake,don't ask me.

"So,I heard you had a serious case of writer's flu from a certain someone." He jerked his head towards Marie who looked at us mouthing a what?,she then kicked my foot telling me to sit down somewhere to talk things through. Yeah, that's our way of communicating.
