Julia's POV
I shut the door, smiling to myself. Biting my lip,I couldn't help thinking about him. What has gotten into me? Even I thought it was only gonna be coffee. Oh,I knew that he made a mistake when he had took me out for lunch as well. He wasn't going with the plan.

'Just coffee'

I was supposed to go back home for lunch with Brady and Marie. But I found myself not wanting to ever leave his side. Wanna know the crazy part about this mess? I didn't bother telling him that it was only suppose to be coffee. I didn't bother correcting his mistake. I don't know what I was thinking. Deep down,I wanted to stay and learn more about him. But there's also another part of me that's telling me that it's just not gonna work out.

I sighed softly still biting my lip,not noticing that it's bleeding a little bit till I tasted that metallic taste that blood has. I beamed at John Hastings, the doorman of the apartment's building. Has he noticed me daydreaming against the door the entire time I was there? He returned the gesture followed by a nod. John's not the kind of nasty, mean or just plain evil kind of doorman like they show in the movies. He's actually a really nice person once you get to know him of course. I headed towards the old but reliable blue elevators and pushed the button to go up before I could embarrass myself in front of John or my neighbours. This building is pretty small looking but it's really not. When the doors opened,I stepped in with a smile plastered on my face, clutching my purse. I have a strong feeling that it won't go away soon.

The elevator music was not lame like the ones they showcase in the movies. My apartment's elevators play classical music and sometimes jazz. Okay, okay. Maybe it's boring for some people. But,it makes me calm. It helps me focus on the one thing that's currently ruling my mind now (Tom).

Oops.

You weren't suppose to know that. Well,it doesn't matter. It's not like it wasn't obvious of what I feel about him before. Okay, for real though, I don't know what these 'feelings' are (They sound evil).I guess the cat's out of the bag. I walked out of the elevator with a grin still etched on my face to my door.

I turned the knob and pushed the front door to be surprised to see Brady sitting on the long orange couch. His eyes looked up from his book to me,he shut it and placed it on the coffee table.

"Hey,what are you doing here?" I said shutting the door and tossing my keys into the watercoloured bowl of keys that Marie and I made last year cause we were too lazy to go to the store to buy an actual key box.

"Waiting for you. We were worried all day. Were you out with that lad from last night?" He crossed his arms.

"Didn't Marie tell you? I'm fine,Brady. I may or may not have spent the night at his place." I admitted the last part cause there's no use of lying to Brady James Wilkinson.

"I admire your honesty, Julia. Thank you for telling me." I smiled since he seemed to be forgiving me for my stupid actions until..., "That was rather reckless though. Why didn't you call Marie or me to come pick you up?"

"I did. Well,I called Marie. But I didn't wanna trouble you guys into picking me up so late at night. I know you'd be sleeping by then. I promise he didn't do anything to me. I'm totally fine." I said sitting down next to him with one leg under the other.

"Fine. But if he's anything like that bloody git Ben,then well you know. He was lucky. He got away before I could do anything to him." Scoffed Brady.

I laughed, leaning my head against his arm. "I don't know what I'm feeling, Brady." I mumbled.

I could hear the shower being turned on and loud singing. Marie, obviously.

"Just take your time. After all,you had just met that lad yesterday. There's no need to rush." He simply said.

"I didn't say I was trying to rush. I don't think there's a chance though. You know why." I looked down at my hands.

There was a strong silence after my last remark. (Except for Marie's loud singing). I was beginning to think that I had upset Brady with my words so I looked sideways at him to read his face. He wasn't an easy person to read like you would with a magazine. He was rather complex.

He had a look of great depression. Though I knew that he wasn't depressed in any way. His face scrunched up as he sniffled a bit as if he was extremely stressed out and a cold had just hit him.

I linked my arm through his, "I'm sorry, but we can't run away from the truth."

"You're gonna come back soon anyways. " His voice sounding unsure whether what he was declaring was going to turn out to be the truth or not but gave me a sad smile nonetheless.

"Of course I will!" I said ecstatically. "This is my home too. You'd have to visit me in America as well. Marie too."

We began talking about polar bears. Just to get rid of that dreadful subject. Why polar bears you might ask? Don't ask me,it just came out of the blue. It seems to work for both of us anyways. I don't know how long we chatted for but I'm guessing quite a while since Marie had came out fully dressed looking ready to go out.

"Julia, you're home!" She exclaimed surprised before crossing her arms. "You said just coffee. And yet you've been gone for nearly the whole day."

"That's what he said." I emphasized the 'he'. "Somehow,we ended up spending quite a while together." I muttered.

"Uh huh. Okay, never mind about that. You'll have to tell me everything later. But now,I'm hungry. Have you had dinner?" She directed the question to me so I shook my head.

Brady then said,"Great, let's head out. I'm craving Chinese food."

As we headed out using Marie's keys,we walked to the elevator together. In the elevator I asked Brady, "How long have you been at the apartment,Brady?" I feared that he had been there since the morning and that I had troubled him.

"Only since lunch." He grinned as if telling me not to worry. Since lunch?! That's like 6 hours ago or something. And he's waited for that long? What more can I say about Marie's patience with me? I'm feeling really guilty right now.

"I'm sorry,I must have worried you guys a lot today."

"It's fine, besides,Brady showed up so I wasn't totally alone." Marie rubbed my back. "And you're back now so you have to spill the beans to us."

"Because you owe us." Said Brady with a wink.

"Even if I didn't owe you guys, you would still have pressured me to tell you." I debated. They continued to give me pleasing looks (they know they're guilty). I let out a long sigh. "Okay, okay. It's quite boring if I must say." I said hoping that that would make them change their minds about me telling them about Tom.

Marie and Brady looked at each other for a short amount of time with smirks as if they were speaking telepathically before turning their heads towards me,Brady opening his mouth to say,
"Julia Sanderson, your life is never boring."

Is it just me or is this elevator ride taking longer than usual?
