Chapter 4

"Wow, that was really great." I say sarcastically as I got out of the chariot. I felt a bit dizzy, but I shook it off. I looked around at the other tributes. I saw a boy named Mat from district 12, dressed as a coal miner along with his partner who seemed to look pretty tired. I saw the young 12 year old girl from District 11 Rachel looking around. She had a simple white dress with sparkling silver heels, and a long braid. I couldn't help but feel bad for her, she seemed to be trembling as she saw the people from District 1, and when she saw me, she trembled even more.

And there alas stood Jason from District 5, who seemed to keep staring at me, I blushed a little, and slightly turned around to see the other tributes. Suddenly, I felt an elbow to my arm, and Mitch said, "Ahem, if you were paying attention, you would know that we are going to enter a building."
"Ok ok." I say glaring at him.

We then entered a big building, and went inside an elevator to the second floor, and when the doors opened, I looked around, dazzled by all the beautiful decor. The walls were painted in silver, and the furniture was either white or grey. I looked at Mitch, and he was looking around too. "Beautiful isn't it?" I asked Mitch. "Yeah, more than we could afford." He said sounding impressed. Suddenly I bolted to my room, and it was pure white with a black bed, just like I have it back home.

Home... The memories came back to me of my brother and I hunting for my mother, who was depressed for my uncle's death back then. It brought tears to my eyes, and I felt like I was going to faint. I ran out of my room, and went to the elevator, and pressed the button to go to the roof.

I suddenly heard a ding, and I looked out. I bent over the railing to reveal the city lit up with lights. Then I heard another ding, and I turned around. I saw Jason coming out of the elevator, suddenly stopping dead in his tracks. "Which District are you from?" I heard him ask. "District 2." I replied intently as I turned around looking at the city again. "You also think it's beautiful huh?" Jason asked walking and stopping beside me. "Not enough to change my mind about home." I reply seriously. "I also miss my home." Jason says looking down. "I never got your name." He suddenly asks, changing the topic. "Lilac." I replied. "What a beautiful name Lilac." He said smiling at me. I blushed a little. "Yeah, I also think your name is beautiful too." I coed playing around. He laughed.

"Ahem, Lilac, time to go back to our apartment room." I heard a male voice say angrily. I turned around surprised to see Mitch clenching his fists. "Oh, sorry, I was uh, taking some fresh air." I stuttered as I got to the elevator. "See ya Lilac." Jason said waving. I smiled and nodded, as the elevator doors closed.

"What was THAT all about?" Mitch growled as he shoved me into the room. "EXCUSE ME, but I was taking in some FRESH AIR." I yelled into his face. "Yeah, but what if Jason tricks you sometime in the games huh?" Mitch asked. "MITCH, QUIT TREATING ME LIKE I'M A 12 YEAR OLD, I'M OLD ENOUGH TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF!" I retorted as I ran to my room and slammed the door shut. I felt hot tears in my eyes, but I wiped them off harshly and went to bed.
