Hello everyone! Sorry once again for the delay. Been busy with a lot of things recently. But I figured I would stay up late tonight and get this updated before I went on my camping trip this weekend. This isn't the chapter you've been waiting for... but the next one is! ;) Hope you all enjoy! :)
Oh, and please do not ask about the whole 'red velvet man cake' thing. Started off as a picture we saw online of David Tennant in a velvet suit, and well, I'm sure you can imagine how my friends reacted to that. :P
Anyhow... enjoy! :)

Diana sighed. She and her friends somehow sat in her small room, all of her friends circled around her. Her friends had been digging into her personal life since Artemis had left about an hour ago. They all were curious about what was exactly going on between the two of them. Admittedly, the girl had no idea what existed between her and the Irish boy. Definitely a friendship, but as of recent, Diana was beginning to wonder if she wasn't the only one with romantic inclinations.
"Are you ever going to answer me?" Constance demanded an answer, snapping Diana from her trance-like state.
"I don't know what to tell you guys," Diana finally admitted. "I mean... he's a nice guy, he's smart, he's-"
"-a dream come true?" Kat interrupted. "Don't try to cover up your true feelings, Di. I can tell when you're lying. Really; how do you feel about him?"
A dream, come true? The words danced around Diana's mind. Was that what Artemis truly was? She thought about it silently for a moment. What was there to Artemis not to like? Sure he had a checkered past, and he certainly killed Spiro- but did that stop Diana from finding him appealing? No, she decided. What he did was mostly in self-defense, not to mention that he had saved her life as well. Despite his flaws, Diana still cared for Artemis, still wanted him more than anything else. But could she tell her friends that without them ridiculing her like they always did?
Diana took a deep breath, preparing herself for whatever her friends could throw at her after she finally answered their question. "How do I really feel about Artemis?" she began, glancing out her window. "I haven't known him very long, yet it feels like I have known him my entire life. When he's around, I feel completely at ease, like nothing else matters. He makes me smile just by looking at me... Before I was afraid to admit it, especially out loud- but not anymore." She paused for a moment, looking back at her friends, daring to look them in the eyes as she admitted, "I do believe I am falling for him."
A chorus of 'awe' erupted amongst her friends. Diana was honestly half expecting a few of them to be upset by her discovery, but right now she really just didn't want to bring it up. "You mean if you haven't already?" Marisa inquired, a huge smile on her face. "I've seen the way you look at him, the way you hugged him that day you and Brent broke up. I've always known, Di."
Diana gave her sister a stern look, but said nothing. She knew if anyone in the room could read her like a book, it was her sister. Letting Marisa ever see her and Artemis interact would be her downfall. Marisa did have a valid point though. If Diana hadn't known any better, she had developed a bit of a crush very early on in her friendship with Artemis; the most recent events only intensified it.
"Well I certainly find your newfound relationship with him to be most intriguing," Alex added. "Normally you don't rebound so quickly- not that I'm saying that's what happening now."
"No offense taken," Diana replied, shrugging. "My running theory right now is that I think mentally, my relationship with Brent had ended long before it officially did. Yes, the finality hurt a little bit- all break ups do to an extent- but I think at the same time, I had fallen out of love with him long ago, leaving my heart more open to starting something new." Diana paused, kind of shocked that she had voiced her theory aloud. "And when a dark, handsome stranger showed up, I couldn't resist trying to figure out who he was. And now... I would dare say I am one of the few who can say they actually know Artemis Fowl."
"Makes sense," Kat reasoned.
"But my question is does he feel the same way about you?" Serena questioned. "I mean, you can have all the grand feelings you want, but if he doesn't feel the same way, why waste your time?"
Before Diana could speak, Marisa gave Serena a disgusted look. "The boy jumped in front of a bullet for her! Yea, he frickin' missed, but it's the thought that counts right? How many of us would do that?" Marisa defended Artemis. When the group remained silent, the youngest girl present continued. "He was there for her through the break up, he took her to dinner, he rescued her... hell he even tolerated spending time with all of you! If that isn't proof, I don't know what is!"
Diana smiled. Her sister was the best sometimes. "Well... what about the fact he actually understands me, and the way my mind works? The fact he is always resting his hand on top of mine? Or that he sat by my bedside when I recovered?"
"That's all the proof I need to say that the boy is smitten," Constance snorted. "Besides, I caught him staring at you a few times while he was here. And not in like an 'I'm looking off into space' stare or a 'creeper' stare. But more of one of admiration, like how someone appreciates art."
"Honey, I am no piece of art," Diana pointed out.
"Shut up," the blonde retorted, silencing Diana. "He wants you, okay? Get used to it."
Just as Diana went to reply, she felt her phone go off. She pulled it out of her pocket, wondering who could possibly want to talk to her who wasn't already sitting here. Diana soon realized upon glancing at her phone who it was. She had received a text message from Artemis. Hesitantly the girl opened the message:
Are you busy tomorrow afternoon? If not I would like to meet up with you for tea. There are some things I want to discuss with you.
Diana felt her heart rate increase as she stared at the message, reading it again. What could Artemis possibly want to talk to her about? She was panicking slightly, and she guessed that was what caused Alex to ask, "Is everything okay?"
Diana shook her head. "I don't know," she admitted. "Artemis texted me and wants me to meet him for tea tomorrow. I guess he wants to discuss something with me."
"And why are you hesitating?" Kat questioned. "You text that boy back this instant saying you'll be there!"
Diana smiled slightly. She looked back at her phone, typing out: Sure! Just tell me when and I'll be there. The girl hit send, and then placed her attention back at her friends. It was certainly nerve-wracking not knowing what Artemis was thinking. She was hoping it wasn't anything too bad, but then again, with Artemis she could never be so sure.
"You should ask him if his bodyguard is coming," Serena pressured her.
That honestly bewildered Diana. "Why?"
"Because! That man is like cake- like red velvet man cake!" Serena answered.
The whole group groaned at Serena's urge to creep on older men. This was not the first time she had pointed out that she found a much older man to be attractive, and Diana doubted it to be the last. "I doubt he'll bring Butler," she sighed. "He hasn't been bringing him very many places recently; I don't think this occasion would be any different." She paused for a moment. "And quit being a creep."
As her friend went to protest, Diana felt her phone vibrate in her hand once more. She ignored the heated debate that was uncoiling amongst her friends as she stared in awe at the words lit up on the phone's screen:
I'll see you at the Starbucks at the mall at two o'clock. If this works for you, I do believe we have a date.
