Chapter 8

You know that's something has changed when you go from being a person no one knows to the talk of conversation! People whispering about you as you walk past.

It can't be because of a single competition to have to be because of something else... but what? Have I got something on my face? Was there some sort of poster or something put up about me? I hate the limelight.

Thoughts flew through my head of what else this gossip could be about. There was no way that anyone would know about my parent's, right? Who would have spilled? The only person I had ever told was Olivia, I knew her well enough to know that she wouldn't have told anyone or put it on the internet, right? Who else had my parents told? Would they have told anyone? I will have to wait till I got to form class and see if Abbie knew. I thought as I got to my locker. More whispering around me as I stood at my locker getting my books out for the morning. Anyone else would have screamed at someone by now and begged them to tell me what they know, but that would just create more attention to me.

Walking into form class, everyone stops at looks at me. I sat down next to Abbie, where I normally sit. Abbie had been my best friend since first school, went we walked into each other a spilling paint over each other then I cried because of the mess my new dress had been ruined. From then on we had been best friends and Abbie would be the first person I would have told. Knowing that she would understand why she had never been round to my house or anything. She would have thought nothing less of me,

"Is it true?"

"Is what true, gail?"

"Ok class that's enough! Welcome back Lucie, I saw your work. It was beautiful!" My rather young form teacher said as she tried to quite the class down. Everyone stayed quite till we left the room.

"What do you know?" I said to her.

"Did you really meet Link Heartly?"

"Yeah, why?"

"He has never spoken to the public as a fear of being changed by the press. Then there pictures of him going into the local hall down the road from mine. Is he fit? How old is he?"

"He sweet and I think he is 17" Thoughts of Link flooded my mind. His smile, his messy hair, his little dimples when he smiles. He is just perfect.

"Oh My God really?"

"Is this what all the whispering is about?"

"Yeah, no one knows what to believe"

"Great!"

"Hey, what you doing here?!" I said as I arrived at the spot where Brian normally meets me to take me home. But instead of Brian it was Link.

"Can't I surprise my beautiful girlfriend?"

"Not when the whole school had a hissy fit about me meeting you" I said getting into the car.

"Haha? Really? I didn't think I had that effect on people!" he said with a smirk.

"Well it's a good job I am immune then" I said winking at him

"Immune, yeah right" he said trying so hard not to laugh.

"Yep" I said popping the 'p'.

"Well, let's get you home there is a surprise waiting"

"Really? What is it?"

"Wait and find out"

"Noooooo, tell me now!"

"Can't you wait?"

"You know how impatient I am!"

"Who doesn't?"
