Chapter 23

-- 6 Months Later --

Six months have pasted and even enough I am getting more used to having to watch what I say and do around everyone because some paparazzi couldn’t be anywhere. They still haven’t given up. They follow us everywhere. If we are planning on going anywhere we have to go in two cars and then meet up later.

Mum and dad have managed to persuade me to do a press meeting which should get them off my back and give me less stress so that I can study harder so that I can start work sooner. Not only is this press meeting about why I wanted to keep my life separate from my parents but I am also releasing the fact I am joining the Heartley Fashion Team and also the fact that there will a new part of the company. L&L Heartley. I can’t work out whether I am excited or scared or both.

“Lucie? Are you ready?” Mum shouted.

“Yes, mum” I shouted back.

It’s now or never.

“Oh Lucie, you look lovely” Mum said after I walked down the stairs. I was dressed in the black floor-length dress I made during the competition that started all this. I had yet to wear it, even though it was meant to be for a movie premiere when that time came, I had sorted out another dress as this one was too hot to wear in the middle of summer.

“Thank you mum, you look really nice as well”

“I do try” she said with a little laugh.

“Come on then you two, let’s get going before we are late” Dad said more or less pushing us out of the door and into the car.

Once again the black boards are around the door way so that we can all travel in one car and get the last bit of privacy before the meeting.

“When we get there, it will be full of people. You are to walk straight to the platform and start talking. You have your script right?” Dad says.

“Yeah”

“Good, we know you can do this and we will have people watching what the media are going to publish so that it is nothing other than what you say.”

“Thank you”

“We are here now” The driver says.

“Let’s get this over and done with” I said, getting out of the car after mum and dad.

Walking into the conference room, all I saw was cameras.

Left, right and centre.

Someone was slowly showing me the way to the platform at the other end of the room but every little step seemed a mile long. I have never felt so nervous before.

“Hello, I am Lucie Rose, daughter of Samuel and Maggie Rose. As I am sure you know I have been keeping my identity not of the public eye so that I could grow up and get an education I wanted without everyone knowing. I have had a prefect childhood and I knew this day would come but it never stopped me making great friends and I could have asked for it to of gone any other way. After getting a scholarship to Appleton School of design, I realised that my life is only going to get difficult if I continued to lie about whom, I was and this is the perfect time to do so. So from today I will be known as Lucie Rose, daughter of Samuel and Maggie Rose, student at Appleton School of Fashion and soon to be a member of Heartley Fashion Team. Thank you for listening, I hope you enjoy the meal. Questions can be asked but may not be answered straight away.”

There was applause while I left the stage and walked over to my parents, Link and his parents.

“Well done. That went perfectly” Mum said giving me a hug.

“Thank you” I said sitting down.

“I loved the way you subtly put in there about join us” Marcus said.

“Haha, Thanks that was the only part of my original script”

“Well, that was a great speech”

**

The rest of the night was quiet boring even though I didn’t get a second to think. People were coming up and asking all sorts of questions and were trying to work out if there was something going on between me and Link. I couldn’t take much, it was driving me mad. Mum noticed quiet quickly and got Link to take me out to the cars.

“Thank you” I mouthed to her.

“Come on then” Link said pulling me out of the doors to the cars. We then got into spate cars and drove back to mine.

“I hated that” I said once inside the safety of my house.

“It gets easier” Link said dropping on the sofa as I turned on the telly.

“Watch a film?”

“Yeah”

“I give it a year?”

“Never watch it”

“Nor me, brought it today” I said sitting next to Link and cuddling up to him.

The start of the film was good, but I don’t remember anything else. Mum woke me up when they came in and told me that the rest of the night was a success. I was too sleepy to really hear what else was said. I just remember being carried upstairs to my room by Link and going straight back to sleep.

Tonight had been mad. I really wasn’t planning on doing anything like that any time soon. The spring release when I officially join the Heartley team wasn’t for another 3 months but by then I would be more prepared.

Hey, I hope you enjoyed this chapter.

It’s the beginning of the end though, only about 3 more chapters left. I have really enjoyed writing this story and hopefully you have enjoyed reading it. As soon as I have finished it I will go through and edit it all. I do know there will be some mistakes… but hey hoe, nobody’s perfect.

Thank you
