Finding ourselves crossing lightsaber, we questioned each other aims. "Why are you fighting for the republic? You look like a Jedi?" said Khai. "I thought you were the one fighting for the republic?" I said. Shockingly, we had misunderstood each other. We knew this will be a start of a great friendship.

*Laughing Out Loud. Hahahahaha!

This certainly is not how we met each other. There is no real lightsaber-as far as I am concerned.

We just had finished our General Ability Test and were lining up for the next exam. It felt like hours.

Almost 85% of the applicants were making new friends and I wanted to do so. He was standing in front of me. I was thinking how to start a conversation. What should I say? I thought.

With just a simple question-Is this the first time you are here?-a great friendship started.

"Yes, I am new here. How about you? " Khai said.

"Me too," I said.

Then the conversation continued to subject we learnt at school. Soon, the invisible wall was wrecked. We grew closer to each other and talked until the facilitators asked the applicants to go back to the hall for some briefing about schools in Singapore.

We sat next to each other and we paid attention to the briefer. After it ended, we were released for lunch. After lunch we went back to the hall. While waiting for the next exam, we talked to each other again. Now it is about our placing in our school exam.

Sadly, we just a half day for both of us to talk face to face. At the end of exam, I asked for his Facebook name. He gave it to me and we said bye to each other and went back to our respective home.

Although six months had passed, we still keep in touch with each other through Facebook. Not long before this story was written, I found out that both of us have the same surname, Tan. This means that we have same ancestor. Khai is a friendly boy and a caring friend too. He is smart too. He is now one year ahead of me although we were both 14. Soon, he will leave for Singapore due to his success in the scholarship we both applied for. Here, I would like to wish him luck in Singapore. Lastly, I am proud to meet you, Khai.

This non-fiction story is dedicated to @PhengKhai. Khai, I am proud to meet you. Good luck in Singapore. I am proud to have your Qoute on Fun Reading too.

"A well reading material for teens" Pheng Khai.
