Chapter 10: Firefox...not an internet browser
I stared at Fox as he breathed out fire at where the boy stood. I turned to Angie, and she said “Fox can breathe fire, and how does he do it? I don’t know, well not anymore,”
“What do you mean not anymore?” I asked.
“I used to think that it’s some gland in his throat, like dragons, but now… not so much” said Angie.
“Cause he’s a skeleton?” I asked
“Yeah” she said
“Wait... I can’t believe we are talking over a battle, that’s just weird,” she added.
Then, both of us turned to look at the scene, to see Fox still breathing fire at the same spot. “How long is he going to stay like that?” I asked.
“I don’t know, but I know that you ask a lot of questions” said Angie.
“What? I’m curious”
As soon as Angie finished her sentence, Fox’s fire sputtered and died with a wheezing cough. I saw Fox coughing out smoke, and with a ‘Hurk’, ‘Ack’ and a ‘Bleh’, a fur ball fell out of his mouth, it was on of those disgusting moments where everyone was grossed out. The boy on the otherhand, was nowhere to be...wait I see him.
The boy appeared in front of Fox as wisp of air, still holding his sword. Fox tried to breath fire again, but he only puffed out smoke, and the look on his face said that this wasn't supposed to happen.
“The boy there is Skyler Ng, the Team Assassin of Team Gemini, a Wind Walker, at least that’s what Fox calls him, which means he can control the wind and create tornados. I remember he created a tornado that almost destroyed the school once, heh,” said Angie.
“So, who do you think will win?” I asked.
“Hmm, Fire Fox or Wind Walker, tough choice, Wind Walker,” said Angie.
At that moment, Fox was at Skyler’s sword point.
I turned to Angie and said “Well… he’s done for”
“I don’t think so” replied Angie.
Fox stood up on his hind legs, which isn’t freaky considering the things I have seen today, and went into a martial arts defense stance, I think.
He then said “You have forced me to use my ultimate skill, Air Head,” and as soon as he finished that he dropped on all fours and ran away with his tail between his legs.
“You win this round but I will be back!” yelled Fox.
“Well that was anti-climatic” said Angie as Skyler chased after Fox. The crowd looked confused and some of them shook their heads, some facepalmed and most of them left the place.
Angie looked at her watch and said, “Well, my carriage is here,” That caught me off guard. “Wait what? A carriage?” I asked.
“What? It’s classy, anyways be seeing you,” said Angie as she walked to the exit.
But the exit was blocked by Kai, he said to Angie, “Not so fast, Princess, its draw the stick time,” Draw the stick? The rest of Team Alvanda, except for Fox, assembled around Angie.
She took a jar out of her cloak and Kai said, “You all know why you are here, as you all know Xiang had his house blasted into a million-bazillion pieces, and because we are a team we have to be sharing and caring to our homeless members, so, whoever gets a stick has to let the new guy stay in his or her house until he gets killed,”
Everyone groaned, except for Wendy, who just rolled her eyes, it seems like everyone in my team isn’t very happy about the sharing your house thing.
Everyone except me put their hands into the jar. After rummaging around, Kai drew his object first. He drew a banana; he took a breath of relief, peeled and ate the fruit. Julia got a punching glove and placed it on the tip of one of her arrows.
What Wendy got was surprising, she drew a grenade. That freaked everyone out, but she calmly clipped it to her belt.
Joel got a doggie bone treat, and just when he was going to throw it to the ground, Buster snatched it from his hands. When it was Angie’s turn, she seemed tense. When she was about to put her hand into the jar they seemed to be shaking. I’m can faintly hear her say, “Not me, not me, not again…”
I guess this happened to her once or twice. She closed her eyes and dumped her hand into the jar. When she pulled her hand out she was holding a stick, she opened her eyes to look at what she was holding and groaned.
She threw the stick away and complained, “Why is it always me?”
“Shouldn’t Fox draw as well?” I asked.
Angie’s face lit up as I said that, and said “You’re right, if he gets a stick, at least I can still have a chance at not sharing my room,”
I’m should have kept my mouth shut, cause Joel stared daggers at me.
“She’s right, Fox has to draw too,” said Kai. Angie tried pulled Fox out of her cloak, but there seems to be something pulling back, we all had to help pull Fox out, in the end we ended up with pulling off his now furry head. He was then place back on Joel’s javelin.
“You cannot believe what I’ve been through,” said Fox.
“And thanks for saving me, dude. These guys don’t even care if I get my limbs torn off,” he told me.
“We care, only it’s in the ‘knowing that even though he gets into trouble that can kill him but he doesn’t die because he’s a magical creature’ kind of way” said Kai.
“I can die, I think,” said Fox.
“Just grab something from the jar already,” said Joel.
“Okay,” said Fox, and Joel dipped Fox’s head into the jar.
Fox caught something furry between his jaws and pulled it out. When he got out he said, “Hey! A baby kangaroo! I love kangaroos!” He was right; he pulled out a living kangaroo joey.
“That makes no sense,” I said.
“Nothing ever makes sense when Fox is around,” Julia told me. Fox dropped the joey and let out a series of yaps and yips towards the joey, and was replied with two soft coughs, and the joey bounced off.
Every one turned their attention from the kangaroo to Angie. Angie said “Fine! I’m sharing my room!” grabbed me by the arm and dragged me out, with Buster following behind me.
