Chapter 20: We done?

Angie quickly turned around to look at the sword and...By the Spirits...

Angie was incredibly lucky, because the sword almost cut her head off, but it missed! It was so close! if she hadn't turned her head she would have been dead!

Out of the noise of fighting and metal hitting ice or the sound of a dragon's roar. I could barely make out Fox saying "Authors do not let main chars die, it's a rule,"

Before I even had time to question, I suddenly felt lighter...and then I had a falling feeling. I heard Angie yell "I'm sorry!" as my head hit the ground. I tried to move my arms, but they feel like they were still locked in place. I tried to turn my head but I couldn't my neck felt like it wasn't there any more. Where's my neck? Lark! WHERE'S MY NECK?!

I moved my eyes and in front on me laid my sword...it's edge covered with ectoplasm...my ectoplasm...Wait...wait...I've decapitated?!

I almost laughed, I usually used the butt of my blade to hit people, not really try to cut them up...and I get repaid with my sword cutting through my neck...strange...I didn't even feel it. I suddenly felt this falling feeling again...but this time it was different. My head was shadow cloaked back onto my body, and stayed there. I found out that I could move my body again, I looked at Angie and she was locked in combat with Goldia and the spectremancer, who caught Angie's daggers and threw them back at her.

I quickly picked up my sword and went to help Angie. She looked and me and said “Pull yourself together next time,”

“Now's not a good time to make puns, dude”

“Rapier is all yours man” said Angie as she pulled out a double-edged sword from her cloak and went for the spectremancer. I was back in combat with Goldia, she readied her sword and something unexpected happened.

Fox literally flew out of nowhere and knocked her over, he look like he was thrown across the place. I looked at him and saw that part's not chunks of him were missing, a huge patch of fur on his tail, his left flank was gone and not to mention his snout was blown off. But he got up nonetheless and looked at Goldia. I think he tried to say “Well, that was unexpected...” but it come out as. “Wal, ha hwa unespetad,”

He looked at me, gave me what looked like a fox's version of a salute and bounded towards the dragon. I turned to Angie and saw that the spectremancer was throwing...fireballs? They don't do fire...Whatever magic users are random.

I turned around and saw Joel giving Jack a sucker punch to the jaw, Kai had Steven trapped in a cube, Julia had the Dragon Rider at bow point, the dragon, whose size had shrunk for some reason was hanging by the tail out of Fox's mouth and Wendy, even though she looked like she was holding back, was literally wiping the floor using Jack's twin brother, at least that's what it looked like

We were winning. Goldia's out cold and Angie had her sword pressed at the spectremancer's neck. We're definitely winning. I don't know how did that happen but we're winning.

That was until Angie started screaming in pain. I saw the spectremancer glowing with a white light, it got so bright it was painful to look at. Angie brought up her cloak to shield herself from the light, I didn't turn away in time and soon all I saw was white.

When the light died, I was seeing spots. Whatever she did, it was effective, maybe a little too effective. Angie got up from the ground to show that her skin was blistering and the smell of cooked meat was in the air. I think I going to be sick. I looked around and saw that everything was gone, everything even the crystal...wait a minute, if the crystal's gone how can I still see? Then again I'm a ghost, I probably have night vision or something.

Everyone else was literally in the dark, Julia fumbled around before bumping into Joel and tripping and knocking over Kai. I looked at the cube, Steven was gone as well, go figure. Fox sniffed the air and yelled something foul. I not going to say what it is, my tongue does not need scrubbing. Fox quickly lit himself up and said “They got away! Freaking sunlight! How did she do that?!”

Kai got up and looked at Wendy. He said “Wendy...you have a lot of explaining to do when we get back...”

“Angie can you move? You okay?” I asked. Angie nodded her head and said “Yeah, I'll be fine, just, ouch, a little sun kissed that's all,”

Fox shook his head and said “A little?! We better find you a doctor and quick! Shadow cloak us back to the village!”

Angie nodded her head and in a flash, we were shadow cloaked back into the chief's place.

The chief didn't seem to be expecting us, because when we appeared his guards had us at spear point before he called them off. He looked at Angie and chattered something in his own language it was complete gibberish to me, but he waved his hands as if he was calling someone.

At that moment, a goblin dressed in a white lab coat, yes I know it seems outlandish, but he wore a white lab coat and those head things that the stereotypical doctors wear. I guess that he was the village doctor. He looked at Angie for a while and looked at his chief before shrugging his shoulders and shaking his head. Fox chattered back in the same gibberish and the doctor nodded. He then took out a jar of something from his shirt pocket and told Angie, “Apply on your skin once a day before leaving shade, don't worry, you'll be fine in a few days.”

Angie nodded and thanked the doctor. After all that was done Kai turned to the chief and asked “Did Team Gemini arrive here? Is the caravan safe?”

“Yeah, yeah, they're fine, too bad we lost a few cannons and guns though...expensive and hard the make...Anyways we're grateful for your help and blah blah blah, I'll send the money to your school, and oh Gurn, get them a souvenir or something from my chest...”

“Wait, what about this place? Will you be okay?” asked Julia. The chief raised his hands and did the 'calm down sweetheart' gesture and said “We're fine, my guards can deal with the Shadows, it's okay, they were trained for this situation, and maybe we should form an alliance with the nearby troll tribe. Win win for both sides. Now dismissed, you can leave now.”

Gurn, apparently he was the chief's right hand man, took out a huge ruby that was about the size of my fist, and gave it to Kai. He bowed and we followed suite before having Angie shadow cloak us out.

We arrived back in von Berringwood Castle's main hall, Kai looked around and said “Man...this place never stops amazing me.” He turned to look at me and said “Here, take this,” and gave me the ruby. I had no idea what to say, that thing looked even bigger up close...okay...that sounded...nevermind! He told me “Keep it, my shelf's filled with souvenir’s already, and well...the area I live in...that's pretty worthless,”

“Emm....” I was stunned...that thing was worthless? Fox said “Yeah, Burgeon Isle is like a mini Earth all together, the minerals here are abundant and endless, literally, after all this is where life started in the first place, now, since it's time to go...”

Angie nodded, took off here cloak and placed it on the floor, with the cloak's red inside facing up. One by one my teammates jumped in, probably back home. Angie looked at her hands and said “Oh...I'm so glad my dad turned that cleric! Put the cloak in on my bed! I'll be right back!”

I looked on as she ran down the hall. I picked up the cloak and the ruby...well...I guess, it wasn't so bad...sure they got away. We save Team Gemini, and a bunch of goblins. Mission complete I guess?
