Chapter 6: The perfect plan goes horribly wrong

The emblems dispersed and I floated at full speed up ahead. The trail was freaking hard. There were several strategically placed traps, both in the air and on the ground. The traps in the air were magic nets which have random effects, like exploding, freezing, burning, leeching your energy; you name it, along with darts and arrows of assorted kinds.

The ground wasn’t any easier; there were bear traps, fire rune traps, ice rune traps, hidden pitfalls, and tree or rock slammers. I ducked and dived through the air traps, Al jumped over bear traps, ducked under arrows and barged through the rune traps. Kevin was way ahead of us, he was literally as fast as lightning, his sparks of electricity crackled under his feet as he ran, he blasted lightning at everything in his path. It was not long until we reach the end, there was a large, tattered flag with the words screaming “This is the end!”,

“Great, what do we do now?” I asked.

“It’s easy, just get the flag and give it to the guy who gave us the plan later,” said Kevin. Al nodded and reached for the flag.

‘SWISH’ something flew past Al’s head.

“WHAT”

 “THE”

 <Snarl>

“Shoot! Missed!”

We all looked in the direction the voice came from, we saw a pale, dark brown haired guy with a crossbow in his hands. He said with a thick French accent “Step away from the flag, or this thing goes between your eyes,”

Kevin said “Hey, remember no killing or maiming?”

“Whatever” said the new guy. He looked at me and said “Ah, the new guy, Xiang right? Allow me to introduce myself; I am James Bethory, a vampire,”

“Wait, Báthory, as in Elisabeth Báthory?! I thought she like, died!?” I asked, confused.

“Ugh you ignorant fool! Bethory with a E!,” James answered.

“Oookay,” I said. “Can you just stop asking questions and attack him already?” yelled Kevin. Al pounced towards James; James raised his crossbow, ready to fire, and ‘WHAM!’

In a flash, Al was slammed onto a tree by a blur of blue and black, dust flew and concealed the scene. When the dust settled, a girl wearing a Hades T-shirt was holding Al by the throat with one hand. “Everyone, step away from the flag or the Albino gets it!” she said. My reaction, I charged, pretty stupid right? The girl was too busy choking Al to notice me, when I go closer, I saw that the girl has slightly pointed ears and serpentine eyes, and the hand she was using to choke Al with was something like a three-fingered claw. I readied my sword, since killing or maiming isn’t allowed I was going to give her a good whack at the head with the hilt of my sword. Then out of the blue a force slammed me and pinned me to a tree, my head banged itself onto the trunk and my vision became blurred. I shook away the blurriness and regained focus. I saw that a guy with two bull horns sticking from his head, he was wearing a Hades Shirt. My soul flames turned in to these words:

Crap

Then I heard a loud roar, it sounded like a tiger’s, the roar was then followed by another, it was louder than the first one, and sounded more like a loud hiss. We all turned our head to look at the direction the sound came from. I saw the same girl who gave me the plan, and the others of Team Anubis. It looked like they have brought in some heavy artillery. A tiger made out of golden mist was running beside the planner girl and another girl was riding on a Shen-Long, a Chinese dragon, its scales shimmered indigo, then blue, and then purple. The tiger pounced on the horned guy, although it was made out of mist it seems solid, it rammed the horned guy to the ground rather than passing through him. The Shen-Long coiled around the demon girl, her struggles were useless.
