Chapter 16: Keep your sword up!
Two weeks passed like a runaway Japanese bullet train with hyper nuclear rocket boosters, and during those two weeks I received huge tons of catch up work, which I finished, and training on sword fighting by one of the guard commanders. He didn’t tell me his name, and I just call him sir, but accoring to Angie his name was Strowkaski, a Russian, that explains his accent.
He constantly yells at me, telling me to ‘Keep my sword up!’ He also trains Lawrence, Lucy and Angie. I got dragged into the training because Angie made me, I don’t see a reason why she wanted me to train for sword fighting. I know a few sword fighting moves from my living days, when I played as Tybalt in the Romeo and Juliet play at my old school, I was pretty good if I do say so myself.
Anyways back to the main topic here, Angie dragged me in because she says she gets kind of lonely because Lawrence hangs out with Lucy more. And I can see that Lawrence likes Lucy, a lot, I know that because I found a love note in his butler pants’ pockets, which he never wore,- it fell out by accident. He got on his ‘knees’- it’s more like going lower in our occasion, to make sure that I don’t tell Lucy, yet.
That day I was training with Sir, he was giving me a hard time, constantly yelling and taunting me. “Keep your sword up!” he yelled.
“It is up! Sheesh!”
Our swords clashed and I twisted my blade, causing Sir’s to fly out of his hand. His eyes widened as I brought the butt of my sword upon his face. He went down with a thud.
The other guys saw what I did and cheered, and I suddenly felt a warm bubble of happiness inside me, and my soul flames turned yellow. Then the cheering died as Sir got up, his nose all bloody. He looked at me with a glare that could make arrows stop in their tracks, I was pretty sure he was going to yell at me again. But instead he did something I will probably never see him do ever again.
He smiled, patted my back and said “Well boy, that wasn’t bad. Well, you should be off by now, you’ve been beaten enough,”
“Commander, you are now dismissed,” said Angie, and Sir saluted and went away.
“Well, that wasn’t so bad. At least I’ve got the hang of this thing now,” I said as I sheath my blade.
“So, what are we going to do next? After all, it is a Sunday,”
Angie shrugged her shoulders and suggested, “Walk our dogs? They need the exercise,”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Buster is a ghost and its Hellhound molting season, I don’t want to get Hellhound fur all over myself,” said Lucy.
“Man, weekends are boring...and my chores aren't done yet and...” whined Lawrence.
At that moment, Fox popped out of Angie’s cloak, a skill which I’ve seen before and is still mind-boggled by. He said “Captain’sgotusajobcomeon! Weneedtoreport!”
I looked at Fox and shrugged, Angie translated “He said Captain’s got us a job and we need to report,”
“Yeah! That’s right let’s go!” said Fox as he crawled inside Angie’s cape. Angie proceeded to cloak me and I fell through a hole of darkness. After a second or two, I appeared in front of the school gate, along with Angie. Kai, Julia, Wendy, Joel and Fox were already waiting for us.
I floated ahead and asked “What is our job Cap’n?” I was excited and also a bit nervous, this is my first mission and I really don’t want to mess up.
“Our mission, is to take care of a little problem that’s troubling a goblin settlement, Mush Hollows. Don’t worry it will be easy as pie, and I told my Mom I will be back before dinner.”
Somehow, I had a bad feeling that the problem isn’t exactly little, and if I'm correct, which I have a feeling I do, we're going to find something, really expected.
