she sighed as she walked on the streets. it didn't matter if it was a newspaper that she saw on the shelf of a store or if someone was reading it on a bench. the headline of the front page just had to be:

L HAS KEPT  A SECRET PARTNER FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD. WHAT OTHER SECRETS DOES HE HAVE?

     Or

SECRET DETECTIVE WORKING ON "PROJECT KIRA" IS REVEALED

she felt like tearing those newspapers into tiny little pieces. and since when had the called it "project Kira"? must've been a thing that the social media is calling it. and no matter where she was she could hear the conversations about her.

M opened the door to a coffee shop and went to the counter to take her order. after she took hep cup of cold mocha she took a seat beside the window. she was looking at the bright sky but she was actually listening to the conversation of the two girls sitting two tables away from her.

"what do you think M's relationship to L is?" said the girl with short hair.

"i don't know, girlfriend maybe" the other said. her voice was so annoying she wanted to get up and punch her in the face. it's already been four weeks, why are people still talking about it?

"girlfriend eh?" she looked at the young boy sitting across from her. near twirled his white hair with his finger while taking a sip from his mocha. the two only ordered the same thing when they went to coffee shops. except that he had liked his hot and she liked hers cold. L on the other hand liked tea over coffee.  she asked if he wanted to come along but he rejected, saying that he had to do "stuff".

she chuckled softly and tugged her hair behind her ear. Near had known her feelings for L ever since the first time he met them. he also knew L's feelings for her but has always kept a secret. he took a sugar cube from the small bowl beside him and started stacking it. she watched him, smiling. Near has always been by her side and always knew what to do when it came to cases. he also had a thing about stacking dice. by the way he was staking the sugar cubes she knew that he thought of it as dice.

but there was always a risk taking near out. And that risk was none other than mello. she always feared that mello would pop up at any moment ready to scare the crap out of a child. but since L wasn't here she worried less. although she hoped it didn't happen.

"i'm sorry for the lost" the boy said. he had used up all the sugar cubes from the bowl. she realized that another bowl that wasn't there before had just appeared. he had taken it from the table beside them.

she tried to think of something else. to get her mind of the fact that the world knew she existed. she didn't want to think about Naomi and Raye or even Mogi. she didn't want to think about Yagami Light. and most of all, she wanted to forget about the second kira's message to her. she stayed locked up in her room the whole night. watari had tried to comfort her. he knocked on her door several times that night but she didn't want to talk to anyone.

L didn't knock on her door that night. and he didn't even talk to her the morning after, and the day after and the day after. he hasn't been himself around her. did he think that she was going to follow Kira? to become a slave of his? anyone that wasn't close to L wouldn't know that he was quite a sensitive person. sure,he never showed emotion. and only people that were close to him could see it.

the task force didn't say much to her either. sure they still talked to her and gave her information but something just wasn't right. they were now trying to figure out who the second Kira was. and they knew that it was a girl. while they were looking for possible suspects, she could tell that L was hiding something from her. but,he wouldn't. if they were working on this case together he would tell her everything. he wouldn't keep such secrets.
