Home- death note fanfic (LxOC)

chapter 6

    M sat on her chair and yawned. she was switching on her laptop when she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. she read the contact before answering. 

    'Naomi' 

     as she picked up L's laptop made a beeping sound and he turned towards it to see what it was. "hello?" M greeted. she could hear her friend crying through the phone. "naomi, what's wrong?" she asked. she looked at L and he looked back, she had a concerned look on her face. she let her friend calm down for a few minutes before asking her the same question again. she heard her sniff. 

      "Raye's gone" she chocked out her reply. M almost dropped her phone. she wanted to break down and cry as well but she couldn't she had to be strong for her friend now. 

       "naomi.. i- i'm so sorry" her voice was broken and she leaned towards her desk and covered her mouth. L didn't need need to ask what was wrong. he already knew. his laptop monitor showed that Raye and other FBI agents as well was dead. he glanced at M again. 

       "yeah, i'll be there. sure, you take care of yourself. bye" she hung up and placed her phone in her pocket once more. 

       Raye, he was dead. she wasn't really that close to raye before. but when one of her closest friends, misora naomi started dating him and she became closer to him and started to know more about him. L didn't know that the two were close friends. he only found out on the first day Raye came back with information about Yagami Light. 

       "shirayuki-" Aizawa started after putting down his phone. 

       "yes, i know" she said not looking at him. "did soichiro inform you?" she turned to him. he nodded slightly. she sighed and looked down she then looked at the task force once more. "the rest of the FBI agents are gone as well" She announced. the room fell silent. she turned to her desk once more and clasped her hands together. 

          compared to all the cases she's ever worked on, this was by far the most dangerous. many peoples lives were at risk. she was worried. not just for L, but for the whole task force as well. everyone's life was on the line. except for hers. it wasn't fair. she was safe. she needed to put her life on the line as well. maybe it was time, for the world to know who she was. 

         so far, they've also discovered that Kira can manipulate deaths. but he would still need a face, and a name. if Yagami Light is kira he would have found out Raye's actual name somehow. 

         maybe she was thinking too hard. maybe she had to relax for a while. no, there was no such thing now. not until this case was solved.

    M's POV 

        everyone from the task force finally left. i told L i was going to go to my room for a while then come back down for dinner. he nodded in reply as he took a bite from his cookie. i could've sworn that was the 10nth chocolate cookie box he ate today. 

        i walked up the steps, brushing my fingers on the cold metal railing. a few minutes ago, Naomi called me again. she told me she wanted to help us solve this case. she wanted to avenge her love, Raye. i didn't want her join, she left the FBI a long time ago. and if she ever wanted to join again now was not the right time. 

       although, L allowed her too. maybe i am a little bit mad at him. ok i am really mad at him for telling her it's ok to join after everything that has happened. i understand that she wants to avenge Raye and all. it was very sad really. they were going to get married soon. i remember the day i helped her and her family pick the wedding dress.
