chapter 5

    ever since then, the nightmares stopped. the nightmares about her family was gone. instead she had dreams about them. they were all happy. but that doesn't mean she stopped having nightmares. new ones came every night and she would wake up the same way like before. screaming, crying. but always there to be calmed down in L's arms. she didn't tell him what the nightmares were about. and she never wanted to. to tell him the nightmares that she kept having.. she just couldn't. her nightmares about L dying. 

    he would be at his desk,watching movies on his laptop at times. then he heard them, screams from her bedroom. he'd hurry to her bedroom and bursts in to see her sitting upright. her hands in her hair,screaming,crying. 

    she wouldn't even notice he was there standing at the door at times. he'd run to her,hold her and pull her close to him until she's calmed down and fallen asleep once more. 

     but she would still wake up in the middle of the night,thinking. if L's life was in danger, was there a way for her to save him? to protect him? she knew that these were just nightmares but something.. was just so real about these nightmares.

       Raye Penber, an one of the FBI agents that L hired to track down Yagami Light is quite a good agent to M's surprise. she has worked with Raye for many times but M never saw him play such a big part in a case before. surely this wasn't his first time. M knew by the way he spoke and did his work, he was very experienced. 

       at first, she didn't think about Raye being the one to follow Yagami Light. he had a fiancee and was going to get married soon. although he said that he didn't mind taking the job. according to him, Yagami Light hasn't done anything suspicious. 

        the front door creaked open and Watari led Raye into the home. He seemed to be tired on that evening. he placed the gun and his fake ID on the table. he sat down for a while and sighed. did something happen? 

       "is something wrong Raye?" M asked,turning towards him. 

       "i was involved in a bus jaking today" he told them, still looking down on the gray carpet. "with Yagami Light" he continued. L too, turned to face him. he seemed a lot more interested in what Raye was about to tell them compared to other information that he has given before. for some reason,Watari did too. 

       M stood up from her chair and sat on the table. "go on" she ordered tying her hair in a ponytail. 

       so then, the two spent nearly five minutes listening to Raye. he told them that he was following Light as usual and sat behind him. then a man entered the bus and pointed a gun to the bus driver. no body else noticed this but Yagami Light did. 

      "he's got a gun!" was what he yelled. everybody else then noticed and panic. some were screaming while some were lost. The man told them that Light was going to try and stop him, but Raye told him not too. the criminal then caught Yagami Light and Raye talking to each other. he then notices that Light is a college student and orders him to take all the passengers belongings. he starts with Raye. after handing him his bag Light drops it, leaving everything scattered on the floor. after a while, the criminal kills himself. 

       he didn't tell them everything but it was enough for them to take. he also said that he showed Light his fake ID. L turns to his desk once more and M sits back on her chair, after thanking Raye for the information. 

      so far, L has called 20 of his suspects and most end up with yelling in which e quickly hangs up or people just hanging up the phone. some didn't even pick up. "only one more person to call" he said,dialing a number. She looks at the young boys profile. "Yagami Light" she said looking back at L.
