chapter 7

    everything was going smoothly so far. with the help from Naomi and Near, M has been able to help the task force put the pieces all together. for now, all their clues lead too Yagami Light. the chief goes back home with this nervous look on his face a lot. L placed cameras and bugs in Yagami Light's room a while ago and has been watching him ever since. 

    among everyone in the task force, L suspected Yagami Light the most. she has tried to keep L from saying anything harsh to Yagami Soichiro. but,it just doesn't work and in the end he leaves stomping out of the room at times. 

   she walks back to her desk after handing a few papers to ukita and mogi. she sits down and stretches her arms in the air. she steals a lollipop from L's plate and puts it in her mouth. he tried to snatch it away from her but it was too late. 

   suddenly, her phone rang. she answered without even needing to look at the contact. she already knew who it was. the only people that called her these days were the task force members,near and naomi. and right now, it was naomi. 

  "hello?" she greeted. she held her phone in her left hand and wrote something on her notebook in her right. 

  "M. Today,Yagami Light will confess" she said. her voice was calm. she quickly looked at L and put the call on speaker. 

  "Naomi, where are you?" she asked. her friend didn't reply and silence fell across the room. everyone from the task force was listening carefully. she was about to ask again but then Naomi hung up. she felt panic rush through her. 

  'today, Yagami Light will confess' 

   she was going to meet Yagami Light and make him confess. how? she must be using something to- 

   she turned to Soichiro who was helping matsuda track on where the call came from. "Soichiro, doesn't Yagami light have a girlfriend named akino shiori?" she asked tugging her hair behind her ears. 

    "yes,he does" he replied. 

    was she going to use her to make him come to her? matsuda suddenly got up from his chair and faced M. "we found the location" he said. L looked at him as she walked over to his laptop. the monitor showed the location. it was an art gallery somewhere around Yagami Light's home. 

     she grabbed her car keys from her bag and walked towards the door. she held the door knob and looked at the task force. she pointed at the person whose names she had called. 

      "Mogi,Ukita, Matsuda. come on, you're riding with me" she ordered. she looked over at Soichiro. "Soichiro, can you give the others a ride to the location?" she asked. he got p from his seat followed by the others. he nodded his head in reply. she thanked him and turned the door knob, opening the door. 

     the three following her went out of the door first. as soichiro grabbed his car keys she turned to face him. "make sure L comes along" she said, walking out of the room. 

   when they enyered her car Matsuda was the jumpy boy he was. excited and everything. she was glad she didn't put aizawa and him in the same car. imagine the amount of chaos that would happen if she did. she pressed the pedal and drove as fast as she could. hoping to reach the location to see everyone safe. 

    'please. please be ok naomi'

      she opened the car doors and rushed into the gallery. many police cars had just arrived as the others trailed behind the girl. she had lost her family, then Raye. joining this case meant putting your life on the line and these people, they were brave enough to do so. they were brave enough to put their lives on the line to solve this case. 

      she needed to protect these people that were risking their lives. she needed to- 

       the moment she reached the room her eyes widened, terrified. there he was, Yagami Light was on his knees holding the girl he loved akino shiori. she had used her after all. what was she thinking? was she too obsessed on finding the man who killed the love of her life. did she want him to feel the exact pain that she did? 

       she was lying cold in his arms and he started crying. holding her close to him. "WHY? WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU?!?" he yelled at naomi. naomi stared in horror as if it was a mistake. she looked at the squad members who had guns pointing at her. all except M. 

      naomi suddenly raised her gun again. slowly, M pointed the weapon at her, tears were in her eyes. 

     "M.." naomi said. she pointed the gun to her head. she had tears in her eyes as well. she stared at her friend in horror, tears ran down her cheek. no, she couldn't loose her. not her too. 

      "naomi, drop the weapon" she ordered. the girl didn't move. by the movement of her fingers she could tell that she was about to shoot herself. "naomi, drop the-". 

       naomi's gun fell to the ground and made a clank sound. her hands dropped. M's weapon fell on the cold marble floor of the art gallery. it was as if she was copying her best friends actions. noami fell on the ground and M rushed to her. it was too late. she was too late.

        Misora Naomi had shot herself. 

        she held naomi's cold body close to her. she couldn't hold it in anymore. she screamed. she screamed as tears ran down her face. screaming her name, hoping that she would wake up and that this was just one of her jokes. like when they were teenagers. 

        some of the task force members were with Yagami Light. the others were trying to calm her down as she sobbed, holding her best friends body. but then, she knew she didn't have to be worried anymore. Naomi didn't need to suffer. she didn't need to feel pain any longer. she can finally join Raye and be happy.

          Yagami Light sat on the steps of the art gallery. his face hidden in his hands. he heard footsteps walking towards him. he looked up. it was his father. he had the look of pity in is eyes. pity for his son who had just lost the one he loved. the man sat next to his son and looked to his front. 

         "i'm really sorry, Light" his father said. 

          Light didn't say a word. he didn't look at his father as well. he only nodded, looking down. "i'll go get you a ride" Soichiro said. he was about to walk away when light suddenly called him.

          the brown haired boy stood up, his hands clenched into fists. "please, allow me to join the team. i want to stop Kira. i want to avenge Shiori" he said his father looked at him. he could see the look of determination in his sons eyes. except that he didn't know, that this was all a part of Light;s plan to kill L. 

          "sure,why not" he heard a male voice say. 

           he then saw a tall female figure appear from the shadows followed by a male one. the male was slouching and seemed to be holding something that looked like a bag of chips. 

           (A/N: i'll take a chip, AND EAT IT) 

           he then saw them. a brown haired girl with her hair tied in a braid. her hoodie, pulled over her head. her hands crossed. the boy was wearing a white long sleeved top. slouching and the other held a bag of chips. he took one from the bag every second. the girl walked towards him. her eyes narrowed. she was slightly shorter then him. 

             "let's see what you can contribute to this investigation. Yagami Light"
