chapter 13

(A/N: I know kiyomi is supposed to be younger than Meiko and all and she's 19-20 ish but let's just say she's older ok? ok.)

    the room stared at the long siblings for a long time in silence.even Mikami's evil grin had faded. M looked down at her elder sister and she looked back up, as if she could see her. as if she could see how much her sister has changed overtime. M tried her best to not show emotion. after minutes of silence her Kiyomi spoke. 

    "you're alive" she said. M narrowed her eyes and clenched her hands into fists again. 

    "you were probably too busy in London to bother" M replied. Kiyomi opened her mouth to speak but M wasn't done talking. 

    "and to even take me with you to london after mom and dad died. Too busy to bother about our elder brother turning into a murderer. too busy that you just left me on the streets a night after the funeral." 

    there was a silence once more. she had never told anyone this.not even L. the only person that knew was watari. her elder sister was always a secret. the person who murdered her family as well. no one knew it her brother. she's kept these secrets for so long, too long. now, the task force knew. how would they treat her because now the knew that she was the youngest of two criminals. tears formed in the corners of her eyes. she hoped that no one saw them. but even though she was wearing a blindfold, Kiyomi knew deep inside that her sister was crying. 

    Kiyomi had regretted everything she's done to her younger sister. after their parents had died, she was going to be the one to take care of her. to see her grow up. Kiyomi dreamed of the day she would meet her sister again, but she never thought it would be like this. her younger sister's back turned against her, she being caught as kira. in the end, her younger sister did join the law. 

    "I was trying to protect you from our brother" 

    "he is not our brother" 

    "if I kept you, he would hunt you down as well. on that day, he wanted to kill you too but he didn't find you so you were safe. i had to protect you. make sure you would't be found by him. so i left you on the streets that night. and knowing you, you'd find the nearest shelter. and so, you met watari. and you were raised at Wammy's House where you would be safe. where he wouldn't find you.i did all of that because i love you." 

    M stood in silence. her body relaxed. was was she going to say? what could she say? all this while, she was being protected from her elder brother. she was so stupid! how could she not know this? but now, she couldn't get too attached to her elder sister. her sister was the villain, her sister was kira. her sister was the enemy. 

    the task force suddenly turned around at the sound of the shinigami flapping its wings. it flew high and stopped right before touching the roof. "i am rem" she introduced. M's eyes slowly shifted to Light as she listened. he was facing away, he looked like he was looking at his watch. no, his other arm was doing something as well. he wasn't setting the time, that was for sure. he seemed to be writing something. he then put his ands down and looked at rem, as if to give her a signal. 

    "for example, i can take that girls life in any minute" rem said, pointing at kiyomi. M quickly spun around in horror. Kiyomi's head jerked up and Mikami  looked to his right, like he could see her. "rem, what are you-" but Kiyomi wasn't allowed to finish her sentence. suddenly she collapsed on the ground screaming  in pain. 

    "Kiyomi!" M rushed to her sister, screaming in pain while lying on the cold floor. M held her sister's hand and called her name several times. suddenly, the screaming stopped and M called her sisters name again. there wasn't a reply. she called it again. and again. and again. still  no reply.she tried feeling a pulse. nothing. panic rushed through her as she shacked her sisters cold body and cried out her name. she held the body slose to her as she sobbed in her sisters chest.
