    "L, what happened?" Near asked through his Handsfree. L didn't reply. He only stared at Takada Meiko lying cold in his arms. Her blood stained his clothing and hands. He stroke her face. She was gone. He had lost her. What would he do now? What could he do? Nothing probably. She was the light of his life but now, she was gone.

    "I'm sending your location to the others, stay there" Near said calmly. Near didn't know. L didn't know how he would tell near that Meiko was dead. Meiko was like a sister to near. To mello. God, how would mello react? L could imagine the rage in the eyes that were no longer near's. People told him that when a person dies, they are still there with you. Still watching you. But L never believed those things. Once they were dead, they were dead.

    The door behind him burst open, Soichiro leading the group into the building. "L, what happened?" Soichiro asked, staring at Mikami's dead body. L looked over his shoulder and carried Meiko in his arms. Slowly turning around. The room fell silent as they stared at Meiko's cold body.

    "No" Aizawa said, shaking his head. "No, is she-"

    "Dead? Yes. She is" Light said looking horrified. But then a voice told him. Her voice.

    'Are you sure? Look at him. Observe his looks, do you think he means his sympathy and sadness? Or is he faking it?'

     Faking it. He was obviously acting his sadness and anger at Mikami. Light was Kira. and now he had to prove it. prove it to the others. and he no longer had Meiko by his side. she wasn't and couldn't be there t back him up when things were warm. all this time, she was always worried about him being dead. about him not solving this mission alive. but in the end, she was the one that died. the one that was taken away. and the person that wanted her dead, was light. and L wanted to rip his head off for it.

    then he heard it. sirens. the ambulance were here. and they were going to take her away. no. no,no,no,no,no,no. it echoed in his head. she wouldn't let them. he wasn't going to let them take her body away. they weren't going to zip her cold body in that plastic bag. a deep part of him, hoped that she was still alive. that her blood was just tomato sauce like the time when she "stabbed" herself. but another part of him knew that she was dead. he couldn't bring her back to life. and he would have to arrange her funeral. pick the clothes she would wear. go to the funeral. bury her. and never  see her again.

    but they were already inside the building.he backed away until his back was touching the wall.he fell, holding her tight. one of them tried to make him giver her to them. but he wouldn't let it. he couldn't allow it. this isn't real. he told himself. she's still alive.

    one of them approached him and tried to take her away. he held tight. but in the end he lost. they took her and he sobbed again. screaming. when the bag was zipped he stood up, panting. that's it. it was done. it was over. she was gone. the road to her story... had just ended. and he would never see her smile again.

    then he heard her voice again.

    "goodbye"

                                                                 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   she cried. he was there. he was right there. she had never seen him like this before. the way he screamed her name, how he refused to let go of the dead girl in his hands, it was the hardest thing Takada Meiko had to bare. she wanted to touch him. to tell him it's all right. but she couldn't. he couldn't feel her, hear her. but she was right there with him for the last time. she wrapped her arms around him and whispered in his ear, "goodbye". she walked away, but then stopped, looking back. not because of the slight reaction he gave, but  because she knew something. she sensed it. L was going to die soon as well.
                                                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    L opened the door. Near and Watari quickly turned to look at him. but he couldn't look back. he couldn't bring himself to look at them. he failed. failed to protect the girl these two people cared for dearly. "where is she?" near asked. no, not near. Mello. He looked down then finally looked at watari. "She's gone" he said. those words. he never thought he'd say them. he never wanted to. and yet, they just came out just like that. no one talked for minutes. Watari only stared into the abyss, walking away not long after. L saw tears in Watari's eyes. Mello walked towards L. "why didn't you protect her?!" he yelled. L heard anger in his voice. he saw it in his eyes as well. Mello had never been so mad with him before. "you loved her! you should've protected her!".

    L knelt down, loking at Mello for a while and the hugging him. Mello punched his shoulders telling him to let go. "Near" L said softly. more like a whisper. "Near please" L chocked out. then he stopped punching. L knew that it was now Near the one he was holding. The boy fell to his knees "Meiko.." Near said, his eyes wide. slowly, he hugged back. Near cold've sworn she felt someone else's arms around him too. but no one else was there. for a second, he thought she was here.

    and she was.

                                                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Amane Misa looked up at the moon on the rooftop of her home. there were no railings surrounding it, to protect anyone from falling. When she first bought the house, she hated the fact that there were no railings. but now she was glad there weren't. she sat on the edge of the building like always. this was where she last saw Shirayuki. where they last laughed, and actually hung out ever since forever. they always sat here, at this exact spot. She looked behind to make sure Rem wasn't here. she told her to be somewhere else where her conversation with Yagami Light couldn't be heard. and where he couldn't see rem as well. that was very important.
    then she heard the door behind her creak open. she didn't even bother turning. Misa knew it was him. "what is it?" Light asked, sitting next to her. he wasn't too close nor too far. perfect. it was just what she needed.
    "is it true?" she asked "is she gone?". Misa held back her tears. it was a struggle to not let them flow. she would let herself cry if it weren't for Light being here with her.
    "yes, she is. just as i planned" Light said. Misa clenched her fists but then smiled to hide her anger. that idiot. he killed her.
    Misa laughed softly and smiled at Light again, wearing an evil look. "did you plan Mikami's death as well?" she asked again.
    "no, but i guess Meiko did do us some good by killing him. he was always in our way don't you think Misa?"
    Meiko. it was her name. her full name. how dare he say it? how dare he spat it out as if it were a threat.
   Light continued. "now we can do this together. no one can get in our way Misa. We will create a world of piece. With your eyes, I- no, we can do anything!" Light exclaimed laughing maniacally. she Laughed along and then stopped, looking at Light who was still laughing. Misa looked up at the moon again. "there is no we, light" Misa said. Light stopped laughing and turned to her.
    "you can do this shit alone. I'm sick and tired of it. you don't love me at all. if you do, you wouldn't have hurt her. you would've let her live. so i hope you do fucking well by yourself because i'm done." she said through her gritted teeth. Light was speechless. good. she didn't want to hear his stupids words right now.
    without warning or saying goodbye, she pushed herself off the building.
