'NO MORE THAN FOUR TO A BOAT!' Hagrid yells as all the first years scramble into the boats.
Rose and I hop onto an empty boat followed by a plump boy with curly hair and a very, very tall girl.
'Ok off we go!' Hagrid says.
The boats leave the rocks and begin to move eerily across the still lake.
'Don't go rockin' the boats now Rosie.' Hagrid says with a laugh, as Rose bounces up and as she tries to get a glimpse Hogwarts.
Rose looks around at me and beams at me, biting her lip, her eyes shining with excitement.
I beam back, it's then that we see it, Hogwarts.
It's beautiful, with its turrets, glowing windows, it's amazing.
There's an intake of breath as everyone sees the castle.
Rosie's eyes are as round as galleons, the glowing windows reflected in her sky blue eyes.
'It's, amazing,' Rose breaths, not tearing her eyes away from the castle.
The boats bump into shore and Rosie and I clamber out of the boats and run up to the great, wooden doors, our hearts pounding with excitement. The other first years crowd around us, all chattering excitedly.
'Make way, make way!' Hagrid calls, pushing through the chattering group.
He pushes open the wooden doors and we all pile into Front hall we rush up the steps to see a tiny man standing there.
'Hello, I am Professor Flitwick, deputy headmaster. Your time at Hogwarts will be spent in your house. There are four houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin.
While you are here the people in your house are like your family. Your achievements will earn your house points and if you get in trouble points will be taken away from your house. At the end of the year the house with the most points will be awarded the house cup.' Flitwick says with a smile, 'Lets go through to the Great Hall.'
The massive wooden doors swing open and reveal the Great Hall.
We walk down the middle of four long tables, underneath the bewitched ceiling, candles are hovering eerily in midair lighting up the hall with flickering shadows.
Flitwick makes a stool hover into the middle of the hall, in front of all the first years.
He then brings out a rugged looking hat and places it on the stool.
A rip at the brim of the hat opens and the hat begins sing, 'Ooohhhhh,
Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin,
Together they make the Hogwarts four,
Place me on your head, and I'll hear all your thoughts and I'll put you were you ought to beeeee!
Gryffindor where dwell, tthhhe brave at heart, there daring nerve and chivalry set Gryffndors apart,
Ravenclaw's where the wise and ready mind thrive best,
And Hufflepuff are kind and just and are loyal to there nnnaame,
Slytherin's are full, of cunning and ambition, they'll do there best to get ttooooooo the very top!
So where to put you,
Where will you go,
Just place me on your head,
I'll tell you the truth!
Nothing more,
Nothing less!!!'
The brim falls shut as the everyone claps like there lives depend on it.
McGonnagal stands up, 'Let the sorting BEGIN!'
'Acabor, Jane!' Flitwick calls.
The tall girl from our boat walks up and sits on the stool, nervously, placing the hat on her head.
'SLYTHERIN!' The hat yells after a few seconds.
Jane Acabor runs down to the Slytherin table.
'Allaster, Max!'
'HUFFLEPUFF!'
'Azacran, Finn!'
'HUFFLEPUFF!'
{Scorpius}
I watch Rose Weasley, biting my lip, I'm such an idiot! I just had to go and say that stupid word!
'Loplong, Christina!' Flitwick calls.
'RAVENCLAW!'
L! We're already up to L!
'Malfoy, Scorpius!' Flitwick yells.
A babble of loud whispers immediately breaks out over the hall.
My heart begins to pound so loudly I feel like I'm going to go deaf, and my stomach feels like I left it by the boats.
I walk up to the stool and pull the hat over my head.
'A Malfoy, hey?' The hat whispers.
'Yes,' I think.
'Well, well, well, where to put you?'
'But I'm a Malfoy, doesn't that mean I'm in Slytherin?'
'No, no, no, you have heart full of bravery, kindness, your mind is a great one, wise and smart. But you are very cunning, oh, yes you are and ambitious, but where to put you?'
'I dunno,' I think.
'Ravenclaw... Gryffindor... Or Slytherin...' The hat whispers, 'Your choice.'
'My choice!?!' I think.
'Yep.'
'Gryffindor!' I think, Rose Weasley and Albus Potter floating at the back of my mind.
'You sure?' The whispers.
'No! No! Slytherin!' I think, pushing Rose and Albus out of my mind.
'Ok then, SLYTHERIN!!!' The hat shouts the last word to the hall.
{Albus}
'SLYTHERIN!' The hat yells, Malfoy runs down to the Slytherin table, Rose nudges me and rolls her eyes.
'Morbid, Bryan!'
'SLYTHERIN!'
'I told you Malfoy would be in Slytherin!' Rose hisses.
'I know,' I say, rolling my eyes.
'Dad was right! Malfoy's never change!' Rose whispers.
'Yeah, he's really mean!' I whisper back.
'Nott, Rex!'
'SLYTYERIN!'
'Potter, Albus!'
Everyone begins to whisper, 'Albus Potter, Harry Potter's son,' I also hear, 'He looks exactly like him!' And, 'Is going to be as good as his father?'
But the last thing I see before putting the hat over my head is Malfoy's cold grey eyes staring straight into my green ones.
'Ahhh, little Potter, hey?' The hat whispers, 'Courage, bravery, ambition, smart, ooohhh, and very, very cunning. But where to put you? Mmm, Gryffindor or Slytherin, your choice.'
