With Scorp as our friend the next few days and weeks seem to pass faster. He is funny, witty, smart and kind. But since his in a different house we only get to see him during DADA, Potions and our Flying lessons, which started up in our third week, and recess, lunch and after lessons, which are usually spent at Hagrid's or the library.

Flying lessons are really fun! For the first few lessons, we just started out small, hovering; flying in straight lines; turning. Most of us already knew how to do this, and even Rose (who is a terrible flyer) was pretty good at the smaller stuff. Then we started mini races (I won all of mine!) and the last 2 lessons we've played games of Quidditch, for both of which I was my favourite position, beater. Most people think I would be seeker, like Dad. But even though I'm good at seeking, I prefer beating. It's way more fun, and I'm better at it. Scorp, on the other hand, has already proved to be an excellent seeker, winning the game for his team twice (I was on his team once)! Rose is equally bad at all 4 positions, but she prefers chasing or seeking.

About a month into our new found friendship, Rose, Scorp and I are heading out from the Great Hall, down to double potions, when James corners me. I motion to the other 2 to go down to the dungeons.

"Yeah, what?" I ask James, annoyed that he is probably going to make me late.

"You're friends with Malfoy now," he says.

It's not a question it's a statement, "Yes, I'm friends with Scorp," I say, putting emphasis on Scorp's name.

"Why?"

"Because," I say, not really sure where this is going.

"Why?!" James says again.

"I dunno, he's a nice guy, ok!" I reply defensively.

"He called Aunt Hermione a mudblood Al!" James says angrily, "You just can't trust people like that!"

"He did it out of anger! Rose provoked him!" I whisper yell.

"Look, just don't be friends with him! He's bad! He's a Malfoy, he's in Slytherin!" James retorts.

"What?! You're holding that against him?!" I yell, "He's not prejudiced, you are!"

"Me?!" James yells back.

"YES!" I yell in his face, "And you're a hypocrite!"

"A hypocrite?! How the bloody hell am I a hypocrite?!" James yells, all of the Great Hall are listening in now, and out of the corner of my eye I can see a teacher coming over to talk to us.

"You're telling me not to hang out with a Slytherin, but I've seen you with that Slytherin guy, Goyle!"

"Yeah, but he'd never call Hermione-" James yells, but he's interrupted by Patil, "Potter! Potter! What is going on?!" She asks.

"Nothing," James says automatically.

"Exactly," I say, glaring at James, "Nothing."

James glares back at me.

"Potter," she says to James, "I've already taken points off you for making a scene in the Great Hall, don't make me take more off and give you a detention! I suggest that you both go off to your classes!"

"Gladly," I say, slamming into James on my way.

My anger with James doesn't disappear over the next few weeks, and James' anger with me stays too. We don't talk, and we stay away from each other at all costs. Rose and Scorp both know better than to ask what we fought about, but I'm pretty sure they guessed.
