I sigh, hiking my book bag higher up on my bag. Uncomfortable piece of shit. I look over at Sub, who was messing around with some random kid's lockers and scaring the hell out of janitors.

I had gotten into the school early; due to recent events I've needed time to think.

I lean my head against the wall of lockers, finally turning around and putting in the code.

7-0-0-4-2-1

The locker pops open, and I root through it absentmindedly as I dropped off my stuff and picked up my math stuff. After double checking everything, I close the locker and slide my headphones up over my ears.

Sub sits next to me, putting his ghostly ear next to my headphone so he could hear. I smile, putting my hand through his knee and sending energy into him; making him physical enough to properly hear the music, but still invisible to the normal human eye.

More kids were starting to arrive, and I boredly look around to see who all had arrived.

Bajan and Jerome had both been here when I arrived, Jason and Sky were walking through the doors now. It looked like Seto and Ian were right behind them.

Everyone's here, eh? I chuckle, shaking my head as I think back to the news this morning.

HOTEL BURNS DOWN. MEANWHILE, POLICE INVESTIGATES MASS MURDER AT LOCAL BEACH

How funny; were there truly more monstrous people out there than me? Sometimes I forgot that; while I was murderous, I wasn't crazy.

I don't think I really had it in me to kill a group of people that big.

Sub taps my leg, shooting me a small glare. With a glowing finger, he writes out a message in the air.

Did you already forget how you killed me?

I smile, shaking my head. Sub leans his head on my shoulder, and I smile.

"No buddy, I wouldn't forget that anytime soon."

"Who're you talking to?"

I look up, seeing a familiar orange visor. Jason.

"No one; just talking to myself. Didn't get much sleep last night." I reply nonchantly, standing up and leaning back against the lockers once again.

"Yeah, I know. The hotel and beach, right?" he asks, and I nod.

"I lived right across the street from the hotel; the beach was about a 2o minute walk away."

"Damn dude; do you need to stay at one of our places for a while?" Jason asks, true sincerity in his voice. It surprised me, I haven't had someone caring about me, besides Sub, since... since she died.

"Nah, I'm good. The fire department had the entire block evacuate, so I got to have some fun last night." Jason laughs, and I could tell he had a raised eyebrow under his helmet.

"How many?" he asks.

"What?"

"How many hookers did you buy?" any attempt at keeping a straight face dissipated the second he completed his sentence; making nearly everybody (including Seto) look over at us.

"Dude, no. I ran into an old friend and we just hanged out." I reply, and Jason chuckles.

"Alright man, whatever you say."
