Shiori pov:

*Ring! Ring!*

I groaned, pressing my eye lids together and bringing the pillow above my head as I tried to shut out the annoying noise.

*Ring! Ring!*

Groaning again and close to crying, I pulled the pillow off my head and reached out for my cell phone on the bedside table. Peeling one eye open, I sighed tiredly seeing the hospital number flash across the screen.

I sat up and rubbed my face once before answering the phone call. "Hello? Dr. Yukimura here."

"Yukimura sensei! We have big trouble! A patient was just brought in with a severed arm and a deep bleeding wound on his torso! There was a car accident and it looks like a rather big piece of the broken metal had gotten lodged into his stomach. We heard that you stay closest to the hospital, so please do the surgery!"

I sighed again getting off the bed, fully aware that my sleep was going to be cut short for the hundredth time.

"Alright, I will be there in ten minutes. Get the OR ready before I arrive." "Hai, Yukimura sensei!" The call was cut and I washed up so I could head to the hospital.

Most people wouldn't believe that I am a doctor. I'm just 20 years old after all. Well, more than believing that I'm a doctor, no one would expect that I am one of the most sought after skilled surgeons in Japan. Up until now, I have done 100% successful surgeries ranging from fixing bones and aiding c-section deliveries to heart and brain surgeries out of which 18 have been major life rejuvenating ones.

There's not really anything special to say about myself, actually. I was born into an upper middle class family and I was the only child. I have brown color hair that reaches a little past my shoulder and teal green eyes similar to my mom. Although, my parents weren't exactly very compatible and the house was often filled with arguments, fights and crying. I always found it disturbing so I would shut myself in my room reading books. My parents weren't home most of time and when they were at home, it would just be the tiring tense atmosphere.

I guess that's how I became a bookworm. Books were my only friends because I didn't mix well with people in school either. I wasn't social at all.

I was generally quite good at studies in school and I always aced all subjects. I was the topper for the school and the city during every exam. As a result, I got multiple double promotions and joined medical college at the age of 14. My parents, being in their own world didn't know about it until I got their signature on my Medical Internship papers. But by that time, they had already applied for a divorce and they had lost their ability to appreciate what their own daughter had come to achieve.

Both my mother and father had new families they wanted to be with. I felt uncomfortable, unable to find ways to adjust in either place. I felt like an unnecessary third wheel. My parents themselves weren't really bothered about me and it would be awkward to be around people I've never known before and call them family. Whether it be a new father or mother and new siblings, it would be very strange for me to be there. After all, I was sort of like an outcast either way.

So after clearing off everything required in the Yukimura family in terms of my part of the family wealth as well as permission to live by myself and not under parent custody, I moved to a woman's dormitory.

I continued with my studies as a surgeon and now at the age of twenty, I work as a full-fledged surgeon at the Sayaki Multispecialty Hospital here in Karakura Town.
