Shiori pov:
"Sensei! Can I touch your stomach?" I chuckled softly as Kenta ran up to me. He was one of the many children I now had under my care in the Juvenile Care Center I had finally started. He was in his second year of middle school and had numerous tattoos on his arms, piercings on his ears and even one on his tongue.
He was what people called a delinquent. When he was first brought here, his mother and father were so worried. They were crying so much and Kenta himself was covered in cuts and bruises. He had just been expelled from school for beating up a teacher and five students but he didn't seem to care about it at all.
This was one of the first few cases I had to attend. Just two weeks into starting the Juvenile Care Center and I had people flocking to me because of my fame and success stories in treating patients.
At first, Kenta refused to open up, he refused to listen to me or the other nurses I had working with me to help run the Care Center. But things slowly started to get better as time progressed. I made sure that I didn't get in his personal bubble but I would treat him with care and affection just like I did with the other patients. Even during counseling sessions, I never forced him to talk about anything and as more sessions came along, he started to open up to me himself. After being around me for about a month and seeing that I never scolded him or forced him to do anything I wanted, he became comfortable around me.
Kenta has been living here for four months now along with eleven other children from different traumatic backgrounds
"Alright, come on." I chuckled from where I sat as Kenta stopped about two feet in front of me. He got down on his knees near the bench I was sitting on, his eyes sparkling. He placed his hands gently on my moderately big stomach and he broke out into a grin when he felt movement from inside. The very concept of expecting a new life was something that Kenta found exciting.
He was awed by it and in the beginning, he would stare at me stomach curiously like he wanted to know what was going on. He wasn't actually used to people talking to him nicely and when I had offered for him to touch my stomach, he had turned red all the way up to his ears. The first time, I had to pull his hands and place it over my stomach gently. Nothing happened so I rubbed my stomach earning a movement. I don't think I had seen anyone so surprised yet amazed at what he had felt. After that, he often came to touch my stomach and feel the movement of the baby as he kicked inside me.
There was one time when he said he had felt something like a foot and he couldn't stop bouncing off the walls the whole of that day. He was a really sweet kid but his past experiences had made him a delinquent.
See? Everyone was good. It was the circumstances that made them who they are and I was glad that I took up the responsibility to help children like Kenta.
Its been five and a half months since I last saw Sousuke. At first, I assumed that he was just angry and he would return sometime after he left. But he didn't. I haven't sensed his reiatsu, Ichimaru san's reiatsu, Tousen san's reiatsu or any of the Arrancar here in Karakura town after that day. After waiting with a tiny bit of hope for three months, I finally gave up on the thought of ever seeing him again.
I was hurt that he didn't trust me even though I had been with him for so long and listened to him when he was troubled. But I cant really do anything about that, now can I?
After I completed my third month, I stopped working continuously at the hospital, instead just took consultations. Under my request, no one asked any details about my baby. They were very considerate and helped me with anything I needed. I didn't do any surgeries but I gave in my advice and suggestions to the patients as well as the other doctors.
