I hung up the phone, sobbing loudly. I couldn't believe it, my best friend, Dick, had committed suicide. I put my head in my hands and just cried. I felt the bench bend as someone sat beside me. "Are ya alright?" I heard a strange voice ask me. The man had an Irish accent, and I shook my head, indicating that no, I wasn't alright. The man placed a hand on my shoulder. "Well, do ya want t' talk about it?" I let out another sob and explained all that I had just heard, he listened and nodded, understanding. I studied this man as I talked to him. He had ocean blue eyes, brown hair on the sides but a flippy section of green on top. He wore a black beanie and a blue hoodie with faded jeans. He was handsome, but I shook my head. I had never been attracted to men, and I wasn't going to change that, but something about him made me melt inside. He smiled when I finished talking. "Well, if ya ever need anythin', the names Jace." He patted my back, and I sniffed. "Max." I told him. He sighed, "Well, Max, I best be goin'. I'll see ya later." He smiled and walked to the doorways, happily.
The rest of the week went by quickly, with me sulking and Jace always coming around when I needed him the most. Eventually, he found which dorm I was in and visited regularly. He became my best friend, and I'm surprised that I lived without him. One day, while Jace and I were talking, Raven walked in with someone behind her. She saw us and greeted Jace and I warmly. She then turned to the man behind her. "Guys, this is Nick. He invited me to go to a party with him and his friends. If you want, stop by! It's at the sorority house by the library." With that, she grabbed her purse and her phone, and left. I looked at Jace, he rose an eyebrow playfully, and we jumped up to follow them.
