I glared daggers at Jace as his face and ears turned pink. I chuckled either way, he's so cute. I felt my face flush and I looked back to Raven and Nick. Raven scrambled off of Nick's lap, and Nick was staring at her with bright pink cheeks to match the croptop she was wearing. She buried her face in her hands and plopped onto her bed. I looked back to Jace, who had sat down beside me. He turned his head to me, slightly cocked. "Did I interrupt somethin' important?" I nodded and he face palmed. "God dammit!" I laughed at his reaction and playfully slugged his shoulder. He narrowed his eyes at me and nudged me with it. I looked back to Raven who was now looking out the window into the night sky. Tears were starting to gather in her eyes and a sad smile appeared on her face. "It's a really beautiful night," she choked out. "August would've enjoyed it. It's all my fault." She lowered her head as the tears started streaming down her rosy cheeks. Nick jumped up. "No no no no no! I will not let you blame yourself for this!" He shouted, his voice wavering for the first time all year. Raven shook her head and looked up at him. "If it hadn't been for me he'd be alive!" She shouted back. "Maybe it would be better if I-" I cut her off. "No... I've already had one friend kill himself, do not make any of us go through that!" I heard the venom dripping from my words and I saw Raven's eyes widen. I realized that I'd never ever said anything to her like that before. She nodded, wiping her nose. "You're right, Max..." She got up and went into the bathroom. Nick sighed and turned to me. "Thanks, Max. I couldn't have done that." I nodded and turned back to Jace once more. I helped him get up and led him outside, clutching his hand. Suddenly, I pushed him up against the wall and crashed my lips into his. He stiffened at first, but then started to kiss back. I smirked as our tongues fought for dominance, mine eventually wining. I pulled away from him and looked into his ocean blue eyes. "I love you, Jace." He smiled and buried his face into the crook of my neck, murmuring something I never thought I'd hear.
"I love ya too, ya big goof..."
