Wolf Blood: New Beginnings

Chapter Eleven

Maddy was enjoying her stroll. It was nice to be alone but yet she isn't. She was also glad that she saw nobody she from school. The purpose of Maddy's walk was to think and look for a job.

If she's going to be living back in her house then she needs money to pay bills and such. To her luck, she saw a "Help Wanted" sign to a pet shop. She laughed to herself, how ironic she thought.

After filling out the application she got the job. Maddy knew she could do it because she believes in herself...and because she knows what each of the animals like. That's another thing she picked up in the woods, knowing what other animals like as in their food, living, etc.

Maddy's boss told her she comes to work on Monday's and Wednesday's from 3 to closing, which is 6 o'clock. And her salary is $10 an hour. Her salary is high for a small pet shop because it's the only pet shop in the area. So the place gets good cash from the people. But for now, Maddy has to familiarize herself with the place.

Then Jacob came in because he was looking for her. "Oh hey Jacob. Look, I work here now!" Pointing towards her temporary sticker name tag.

"That's great! But I need to talk to you. It's about Rhydian,"

"I don't want anything to do with him. And you know that too."

"Yes but Rhydian is wanting to be friends. I know because he just talked to me before I came here, back in the apartment."

Maddy gave it some thought. She isn't sure if she wants to be friends with him again because he did say some hurtful things. Also, Jacob was the one who helped with their closure. Meaning Maddy is done with Rhydian in any kind of relationship.

"Fine. I can try to be friends with him again." She figured he deserves a second chance.

At closing time Maddy went back to her house and saw Jacob still there. "Shouldn't you be back at your apartment?"

"Yes, but like I said. I'd stay here with you...until you're comfortable of course,"

Maddy was grateful for how thoughtful Jacob is. Why couldn't he be Rhydian? She thought.

"Oh yeah. I met with Amelia and Jason before I came back here. Well technically they found me but yeah,"

"Really? How are they?"

"Good. They miss you."

"Yeah. Maybe we could invite them over sometime. Anyways, what are our plans for dinner?"

"Want to go out to eat? Since we have no groceries whatsoever."

"Sure." They left the house again and walked towards the town. Jacob noticed something was a bit different with Maddy ever since her and Rhydian stopped talking. She was more...at peace with herself. Her personality has gotten a bit happier than it was before. He was looking at her with an admiring look and Maddy couldn't help but notice.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." Which Jacob did so. He pulled out his phone and took a selfie. Maddy was laughing because he didn't think he'd actually do it. "But honestly, why were you looking at me like that?"

"I admire you. After everything that you've been through, you're here as a strong woman. And you're with me."

Maddy was embarrassed, "Thanks Jacob. Even though you did start all the stuff, in the end you came through for me."

"Can I ask you something? And you don't have to answer it if you don't want to." They both stopped at a bench and sat down. "Go ahead."

"What happened to you over the three years? I know that you've been in the woods but what did you do with the information about you being...you know,"

Maddy shifted in her seat. Yeah she didn't handle the news well but she couldn't do anything about it. After finding that out and leaving the woods after the fight, she actually went back to the town adoption center and asked if she was adopted. And it was true. Afterwards she went back to the woods and stayed there. She did try to find her real parents but it was hard.

Before she could start tracking she had to learn more stuff about herself and what she can do as a wolfblood. Which is why she did some training with a little bit of help from Amelia and Jason. Of course the two don't remember because Maddy erased their memory of it.

Yeah there is more to Maddy than being a wolfblood, but that will be told another time.

"Well after finding out I was adopted I came back here to the adoption center and asked. It's true. I am. Of course I asked if they knew who my real parents were and for what reason as to why they left me but there was no note or anything. They found me at the entrance in a basket." Jacob didn't know what to say. He didn't know how it feels to be adopted but he knows he has to be sympathetic towards her.

"I'm sorry. But if you came back here why didn't you just stay here?"

"I had to learn more about myself and what I'm capable of as a wolfblood. I learned so much and maybe I could teach it you."

There was a glint in Jacob's eyes. He really did admire Maddy for being strong through these past three years she's been struggling.

"So you and Rhydian have been catching up?" Maddy brought up during dinner.

"No. I only talk to him when I know something about you. I figured he deserves to at least know what's going on because you and him did have a thing before any of this started."

They ate the rest of their dinner quietly and enjoying each others presence. Afterwards they went back home and went to sleep. Not before Maddy visited her parents room one last time before locking it up for good.

While looking around, she came across a book on her moms side desk and decided to look through it. She found something very interesting and she'll tell Jacob in the morning. After finding that she figured she'll lock up the room later.
