Dan and Phil's relationship had been going on for well over a month now and was, emotionally at least, progressing at a very past pace, but it was all done in private. They rarely went out in public, which Dan preferred, and they saw each other most days. This wasn't because he didn't like being around other people, but because when they were around people together Phil tensed up and had a tendency to snap at someone if they came too close to Dan or even acted friendly with him. Although Dan knew, deep down, that this was more than normal jealousy he continued to brush it off as new relationship jitters and insecurity. He himself felt jealous when someone prettier than him spoke to Phil, though he was never jealous for long as Phil was always blunt with strangers and most of the time he didn't even make eye contact with them.
This was why, on Friday afternoon, Dan was shocked to see Phil leaning on the brick wall outside Dan's school. Shuffling his way over to Phil, winding through the floods of students and parents eager to get home themselves, Dan wondered why Phil was here. They had made plans for later that evening but they had arranged to meet up at Phil's not here.
"Hi, Phil." Dan said, placing a swift kiss on Phil's cheek. "What are you doing here?" He questioned.
"I just thought I'd come and surprise you. It's really busy here, we should go, you might get pushed over." Phil said slightly scowling at the school children excitedly running about.
"I'm a fully grown man, I can handle myself. They're just a bunch of little kids!" Dan sighed, slightly irritated that Phil hadn't dropped his 'Dan is made of glass' attitude, but flattered at the concern over his safety at the same time. "You're right though, we should really make a move."
"Are you okay baby?" Phil asked, seeing Dan with his head hung low, as they were walking towards his car.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine don't worry. It's just been a long week." Dan replied, throwing a weak smile Phil's way. Then, after fiddling around with unlocking the car, chucking his bag and folders in the back seat, Dan slid into the drivers seat and waited for Phil to get in beside him.
Dan perked up a bit more on the drive home, listening to his music filling the car and his tired mind after another busy week at work. He had work to do over the weekend but that could wait, he had more important things on his mind. For example, he had a beautiful man next to him, with his long legs crossed at the ankles, his black skinny jeans tightly clinging to his thighs, practically screaming out for Dan to touch them. Dan swallowed, and tried to get his thoughts out of the gutter and back onto the road.
As Dan drew into a parking space only a few houses away from his own front door, Phil twisted in his chair to face Dan better.
"Are you sure you're okay, Danny?" Phil asked, concerned at Dan's quietness during the journey.
"I'm just worried about you Phil..." Dan replied. Phil was taken aback; he was not expecting that answer.
"Worried? About me? Why?" Phil said, blinking confusedly.
"Well, I'm more worried about us I guess. I feel like you are constantly afraid someone is going to beat me up or a bruise is going to kill me. I can take care of myself. You don't have to be so bloody protective of me all the time." Dan said, in a flurry of words. "Sorry... I didn't mean for that to sound rude. I just feel that you see me more as your child than your... Boyfriend..." Dan's bottom lip pouted. He wanted Phil, and it hurt to think that Phil didn't want him in the same way.
"I just know how stupid and dangerous people can be and don't want to see you get hurt." Phil said, trying desperately to make Dan see his point of view. "If I can prevent you from any pain then I want to try to do just that! Trust me Dan, I do not see you as my child. And for the record, it'd be worrying if I had the thoughts I had of you about a child." He finished, with a small wink, making the butterflies in Dan's tummy flutter at full speed and a blush creep onto his cheeks. "You can call me Daddy if you want to though." Phil whispered, bringing his face close to Dan's.
"I know it's early," Dan said glancing at his watch. "5pm to be exact, but do you fancy some wine? I'd rather stay in tonight than go out if that's alright?" His foot was nervously bouncing up and down next to the pedals, and his palms were beginning to dampen in anticipation.
"That sounds perfect." Phil uttered, placing a soft kiss on Dan's sweet lips.
Alright this one's short, but you can probably guess what's going to happen next...
