WRITING/STORY
If you had to choose only one, out of all the things you've written - whether published or not, oneshot or full book - to be made into a film of appropriate length and casting, kept hyper-accurate to your work, which would it be?
I think it would have to be this one, there's so much going on in it that I think it would be the most interesting to watch. Though it'd probably have to be padded out a bit and made into maybe two films because it might be a bit overwhelming to watch it all in the space of an hour and a half. Also who wouldn't want to see more D&P smut? ;)
What made you decide to have Dan and Phil kill Craig instead of going to the police?
I thought, given their history with him, especially Phil's, that any prison sentence wouldn't serve justice. I also thought it would feel good for Phil to take away the life of the man, that had fractured his own, with his bare hands. Plus I was super moody and angry that day so I wanted to hurt someone, and it's healthier to kill someone in a story rather than beat up someone in real life.
How did I only discover this amazing story today?
I don't know how you found this but thank you for reading!
Do you have any favourite Phanfics?
YES! Arms, Dementors Kiss, Memories, Human and Thoughts Likened to Rain
What inspires you to write?
Sometimes a song will inspire me, or a quote. For example, my 'No Bravery' one shot was inspired by Danny Pink, James Blunt's song and the quote "only the dead see the end of war." My fic The Talent Show (up soon) was inspired by rediscovering The Only Exception by Paramore and remembering hearing a girl singing it for the first time at a Talent Show. My at the time boyfriend sang a love song to me at this show too ~awh~
Also I'm currently on a Gap Year having had like five operations, so I'm on 'bed rest' for ages so I have a lot of time to sit and write and watch YouTube, which is why I'm just enjoying it and not wanting to grow up yet. Then I can leave all this behind me and go to uni in September and be happy that I had a nice relaxing time as a teenager and feel ready to move on.
How long have you been writing for?
I started writing at 3, when I was taught at school. I started to write stories when I was about 5 or 6, even though they were ridiculously short and appalling in general. I started to write online when I was about 14 with my blog (cringe) and then on wattpad a few months ago, I also published something on Fanfiction.net and it's truly horrendous. I put it on wattpad too but I've since unpublished it out of embarrassment. I started this particular fic about four days before the first chapter was published.
What makes the hearts so oblivious? And what are they oblivious to?
Well, this is interesting. It was supposed to be that the hearts are oblivious to the things that would usually ring alarm bells in someone's mind. For example, being the abuser in previous relationships would naturally scare someone away. Constantly hinting at enjoying punishment might also scare someone off (not kink shaming, be safe kids.) Also, as they kill Craig, they're supposed to be oblivious to the basic moral indecency of murder, even if it was in retaliation to such a traumatic experience such as rape. As Chaucer said "love is blind" and therefore Dan and Phil in OH look past the warning signs and the fronts they show each other in favour of the man they think they can see. Also Dan hasn't noticed how well off Phil is, and hasn't asked where the money came from. He started his life with only £20 which he spent on a train ticket and then became a tattoo artist, how many tattoo artists in rural towns do you know that can afford a big house, a car, a motorbike and a whole block of disused flats? As for Phil he sees Dan as this ultra cute, innocent baby, but really he has some pretty fucked up sexual desires and enjoys inflicting pain too, but Phi again chooses to overlook that. So I guess in the end it's up to the reader to decide what makes them oblivious, and what they are oblivious to. I've heard love can make you do pretty weird things....
